It looks easy to remove if that is the method. Is it a simple? Where is it placed?

This is what the Magna inlet plug looks like . It's built into the Carb insulators

If they are the ones in the picture then, yes replacement will un-restrict air flow. I doubt the metal plate in there is removable.
