View Full Version : Vendor for Sargent Seat Group Buy?

Anyone have a good vendor that might want to try a group buy on Sargent seats?
Last time we used CAsporttouring and rather than using the same one all the time I thought it would be good to try a different one, nothing against them, just good to spread the business around.
If you have a vendor we can use, shout and give them a call or I can do it.
I'll add a poll here too to see if anyone would be interested.

My 1100 definitely needs a new seat, and with the new job, I may actually be able to afford one! Lemme do some research on Sargent first.

I've got the stock seat and will soon be taking a 4-day trip w/ my SO the first week of June. I'm pretty sure that after that she'll have no problem w/spending the $$$ for a Sargent.
I am going to take it easy on the ride and only go for a couple of hours at a time. It's our anniversary and I want to be able to enjoy it.

I too might be interested..... but I haven't yet decided on which seat to buy for my 1100.
I've seen the Sargent on 1300's, sat on a Corbin on an 1100, and sat on a Russel on another 1100. I need to convince a buddy to let me borrow his Corbin for a day so I can make an informed decision.

I might be in as well. I've added a sheepskin to my stocker and will have to see the difference it makes.

I may be interested if we can get a deal on the back rest. I already have a seat and the top box pad to match. I just need the smaller back rest for my wife for local riding.
I am definitely interested

Oh come on Yogi... You know you don't need a new seat... you just need to ride more!!!!

Yeah , I know I am a slacker ;) but if I had a comfy seat I could put on more miles daily.. Of course I am still considering dropping the moolah for a Russell:p:

I would consider a new seat. The stock one is the worse I have owned on any bike.
After reading some other posts in another thread I think I am just going to bite the bullet and go with a Russell Day Long.

Taking my first rode trip in a couple of weeks. So far my longest ride has been about 250 miles and I was approaching the first case of monkey butt I have had since I owned a Sportster. (And we stopped at the 100 mile mark for lunch, so my longest stretch without getting off the bike is 150 miles.) I think I am in the market for a Sargent, but I will know for sure after the aforementioned trip.

I already have a Sargeant. However, they recently started offering a heated seat. For those that already have a Sargeant seat, one can send it in and have the heating stuff added for $150.
Will they give me break on the prize if I say I am w/ the group buy?

I also could be interested if we include ST1100`s.
I emailed Sargent about the availability of a seat for the ST1100, and they said they could do a foam alteration package and recover.

Don't think this would work with a group buy, but who knows. Someone would probably have to approach Sargent directly to include ST1100s.

ST1100 other option from Oregon Areo:
Mark,
Our typical Motorcycle seat upgrade would consist of removing the existing cover and removing some of the standard molded foam material. Now we replace the foam with a visco-elastic Confor (memory) form, contouring the Confor foam in the same general design as the original seat, so the existing cover will still fit, and then reattach the existing cover. A seat cushion upgrade like this cost $150.00-$200.00, depending if it’s just the rider’s seat or rider and passenger’s seat.
We can Custom design the complete cushion system to your wants and needs; however we could not reuse the existing cover.
So a completely redesigned seat cushion system with a new Custom seat cover upholstered in Ultra (manmade) Leather or Genuine Leather would cost $475.00-$575.00.
If we use a less expensive vinyl for the custom cover you would save $50.00-$75.00.
Any Questions? Call me @ 800-888-6910.
Thank you,
Dave

These people are highly respected in the Experimental Aircraft arena. Pulling over to stretch your legs during a 4 hour flight is NOT a reasonable option.
PS: I believe I remember them starting out with an ST1100 (http://oregonaero.com/products/details.aspx?ID=1449&CID=583) seat

Do we have a group buy on these? I need to get an order in pretty quick. We have a trip to Michigan the first week of July and I want to get the seats ordered plenty of time in advance in case something goes wrong.

Have been too busy to find a vendor, people had some complaints from the last group buy on these seats, not because of the seats themselves... so, I was hoping to find another source.
Anyone have any good contacts with distributors?

OK...I've been in touch with Sandhills who in turn have been in touch with Seargent directly....
It is now a matter of logistics, getting a price, option list and delivery time and working the ordering mechanism out. I am following up on that.
Stay tuned.

We would love to help everyone out on a group buy. I called Sargent yesterday to see about the availability of getting 20+ seats and it sounded pretty good (maybe 1-2 weeks) as our current Sargent seat distributor does not carry that many seats. We were trying to think how we could easily do this for that many riders and we thought we might try to set up a special web page showing the lower price and allow everyone to purchase them that way. You could post the link on the forum to the special page and give a deadline for when we would be placing the order through Sargent. Calling us would work as well. Any thoughts from you. Let us know
Thanks again,

woops...i just ordered yesterday(friday, 6/16)...however...the $485 with no shipping cost from sandhill was enough of a price break for me to go ahead with ordering...they said the black welt on carbon fx seat was backordered...but there were a few silver welts still available as of yesterday...that was fine by me with a 03st13 anyway...if i do not care for silver welt...some carefully applied black dye can change things...i just hope sargent seat will remedy the "slide to the tank" syndrome of stock seat & the "burn" after a few miles...thanks for you-all's info!:bow1:

Wrapping up all the details..
Part of the offerings will include mostly EVERYTHING that seargent offers for the ST..
Including back rests, Honda line top box pads, side case covers..
They are checking with Seargent about a deal on retrofitting current owners who want to add heat..
Details should be out in a day or so..
