Any advice for running out to the east coast on July 9th and returning on the 14th.

Stevensville, MI to Annapolis, MD.

Planning on incorporating a long ride into a planned business trip in MD.

I haven't run out that direction before, so, any help is appreciated.

I'll have some goofus time in the evenings during the week, too. Thinking of DC and some of the usual traps. Could use some help if anyone has good tips.

Planning on running straight through on the travel days. Mapquest says 670 miles. Piece of cake, right? On the ST, of course it is....just a good start.

Thanks in advance.

Steven from Stevensville.

You will, of course, want to stop in Stevensville, MD, which is on Kent Island (http://www.kentisland.cc) just east of Annapolis along US 50/301. :) If you're into guitars, Paul Reed Smith Guitars is headquartered there. They offer a factory tour by appointment (call 410 643 9970, book as early as you can).

Most of the good riding in Maryland is west of DC/Baltimore, some of which you could cover on the way in or out depending on your schedule. Most of the museums and tourist attractions in DC are closed by 7:00 p.m., so other than clubbing and, there isn't a lot to do in town in the evenings.

If you're planning to take a day or two and do some touristing, I can probably give you some better tips.

There are plenty of good roads to ride along the Pennsylvania/Maryland border. Specifically just south of the Gettysburg/York, PA area down into Maryland. I drive them (haven't taken the bike that far East yet!) every November as respite from the in-laws!
