Look at the front tire, it's tucked in... I don't want to see the resulting pics.... OUCH...

Saw a guy on a KLR yesterday morning on my way into work... Nice fullface helmet.... and t-shirt, shorts, sandels (no socks-lol), no gloves. I guess there's logic there somewhere...

Damn Doggie, that is going to hurt. I'm betting high side with the way that wheel is tucked. The bounce hurts really bad on the high side, let alone the rash to follow. If he manages to keep it on the low side it will mean more rash. No clear winner, except the rash is rarely fatal. They look young enough that it might be natural selection.

Joe, saw just the opposite earlier this week at the A.M. coffee stop, kid on a race replica in full gear except the helmet. If you look close, the rear wheel is already off too, about to fing out how much traction his ankle will provide.

Yeah, I missed that... hidden by the shadows... that sux... It's one thing if you screw up...you pay for that mistake.. .but, when someone elses' life is in your hands.. man, I'd have a hard time living with that guilt...

I truly hate seeing pictures like that. Yeah, I know all about natural selection and all that but geeze, how utterly stupid do you have to be? It's a real shame that common sense is dead.

The happy couple before the crash.

I didn't notice her choice of footwear in the first photo.....but she is wearing gloves!

A friend from another forum emailed the photog, and he claims he didn't take any pics of the aftermath. Morbid curiosity. :)

Do we really need the pics... we all know what happened... just hope they lived through it and learned something from it.

Oops that was the part I forgot to mention. They did live through it and they actually came out fairly unscathed. Very lucky.. <sorry...meant to include that, but got distracted by work>

I always get a kick out of the GXSR guy wearing shorts, muscle tee, tennis shoes, gloves, Arai helmet  Then I see the HD bagger guy wearing shorts, flip flops/sandles, no helmet, gloves... don't know which is worse

GXSR guy has a helmet... but can hit insane speeds... HD guy, no helmet

I noticed that. The picture should be labeled BEFORE don't think I want to see the AFTER

Part of my original point was about the photographers... how many pix have we seen where they captured someone making that kind of mistake after having aknowledged the camera? Too many.

I'm a photographer, and when I set up to shoot something like that, I go to great lengths to not become that kind of catalyst. Anyone with half a brain knows that if they enguage in that gig, they are going to change how some ride because of they are there. Photographers fault? No, not really... but a little common sense would go a long way to avoid being a significant variable in an incident like this one. There is some accountability from that perspective.

JMO guys. :)

I hear ya... it's such a fine line though... look at all the crashes that killboy catches on deals gap... is he resp for that.. nope, did they see him and 'showboat' a little to make a good pic.. some probably did and therein lies the true responsibility. You ride your own ride.. if you show off, you take ownership of those actions... do a burnout then let go of the brake and run into a crowd.. is that the crowd's fault for egging you on? Nope...

You have a great deal of integrity for 'trying' to not influence that situation but as they say, common sense is not so common... and stupid is as stupid does... People like to show off for the camera...

Do we really need the pics...

Most real-world wrecks don't get captured on film, and when one does, I find the before and during pics very instructive. A good long gaze at a bike that's on the verge of going down lets you see a lot of things you'll never get to study duirng your own wreck or seeing someone else's in person.

Yeah, people get hurt, but if we can learn something from it, then there's a bit of benefit.

I here you too... my great life long struggle between my Humanist, and fairly staunch Darwinist ideals... I guess where I get caught up in it is not wanting to be in any way part of it. I lose enough sleep for good reasons

Which was my point. I don't want to see mangled bodies. I want to see how the bike faired, what happened immediately after that last shot, etc...

I've witnessed plenty at the racetrack, some inches in front of me, and its scary during, but very handy afterwards to examine what they did so that I don't make the same mistake or similar in the future.

Folks,

From what I understand, that photo was taken on Mulholland drive in the Santa Monica mountains of southern CA. According to the photographer, as posted on another list, the rider and passenger walked away. She wasn't hurt badly. Apparently her backpack took much of the brunt of the fall.

Now, I suspect the driver may have been hurt quite badly. By the passenger. At a later date...

Wow. And I was going to suggest that she may not want to be so loaded down. That backpack looks huge for her frame.

I guess being a Shirpa saved her skin this time....literally.
