Has anyone had any luck finding the Hitachi-style connectors (for the quartet harness) anywhere locally, meaning in a store--not via the web? I have all the plastic off and really want to get my Quest 2 and Valentine One hardwired in tomorrow for an upcoming trip. But, it wasn't until today that I figured out what I really needed to get the job done.

Tried Radio Shack today and they didn't have them.

Thanks,

Mark

When you order your connectors online, get extras and avoid the freight on having to buy more.

I keep several extras, except for the 9-pin shell.

I went to Fry's and bought some that were not correct. Surprise! ( I hate Fry's) Also tried a stereo install place, no luck. Finally just hard wired my Quest and my MixIt into the quartet. Seems to work fine. I wish I had found the matching plugs to use, but hardwired before I heard you could find them on the net.

When I wired my GPS to the quartet harness I didn't have my connectors yet. I took the smallest crimp on post connector, if that are what they are called - the U-shaped ones, crimped it to the wire of the GPS and then cut off one side. I then located the socket on the Q-harness I was going to use once the fittings arrived and pushed the pin that was left into the socket for the correct wire color. I wrapped the first one with electrical tape before installing the second one and then wrapped it too. I rode like that for at least a couple of weeks with no problems. When the connectors came in I took it apart and simply cut off my make-shift connectors and then crimped on the proper pins and added the plug.

Just buy your parts from the Electrical Connection (http://www.electricalconnection.com/) it is so much easier. Also, buy the Hitachi crimper it will save you a whole bunch of time and headaches.

I wired up my Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control at the same time. I made adapters with the connectors so if I removed it later none of the factory wiring is ever compromised.

Auto/MC salvage facility.Yes, but the pins are tiny and difficult to re-use...

Thanks for the feedback. I temporarily hard-wired the Quest 2 straight to the battery and the Valentine one to the hot wire going to the 12-v power plug in the right side fairing pocket. Then I ordered all the right supplies from the web and will do things right when they arrive. Everything seems to be working fine.
