I just got my 2006 ST1300 ABS and wondered if all my shopping around really resulted in a savings compared with what this group has gotten. This is not a demo bike....brand spakin' new from the dealer. A friend of mine said ST1300's aren't quick sellers and tend to sit on the showroom floor for quite a while so he thought I could have done better....thoughts?

You got a pretty darn good deal there. Considering the other "toys" you have for the kids (3 50cc ATVs) your dealer should be more than ready to cut you some good deals.
BTW... perfect set of extras you got on that bike.

You wouldn't have gotten that good of a deal on a non ABS from my dealer! :03biker:

'OK'?
Here's a newsflash for the rest of the nation: here in the NY Metro Area in Spring 2004 I had to call high and low to even find a 2004 ST1300 ABS model in stock. Found TWO after calling 12+ dealers. Managed a $500 discount. And that was the BEST price. Nobody else would budge off of list.
The list was lower then (I think it was $13500, and I paid $13K or something like that). But markets will vary. If you want a deal on an ST forget my area.

Here in the Baltimore area the dealers were coming down about 4% off MSRP. The dealer I bought mine from in Lynchburg VA came down 15% (several hundred below dealer invoice). He wouldn't tell me how he sold it so cheap. Anything under 13k for an 06 ABS seems good to me.

If that included tax and title, you got a heck of a deal.:clap2: If it didnt you still got one of the best deals out there. I bought my :04biker: 04ABS from a volume dealer in MS and got it for 12,700, not including tax and title. Nobody here in TX wanted to deal....:shrug1: :shrug2:

no tax and no tags included...
..but all other dealer install fees, filing fees, prep fees, delivery fees, ect - parts and labor - helmet too.....for some reason there are at least 3 dealers that have them sitting without any pressure to purchase....one dealer here in town would only go to $16,500 OTD....Freedom Cycle is the place to buy from - these guys were really great to work with and give a great price....I plan to pick up a 350cc Honda ATV for the wife........they are out of Grandview, MO....Chuck or Jeff is who I'd call......

All the good deals on ST's seem to be in the Midwest or more rural/further flung areas of the US. Places like NY and FL seem to be tougher. Which does make sense - you'd figure there would be more ready buyers in the NY Metro Area than in Missouri. Here in NY it's a very popular bike relative to the tiny number the local dealers get from Honda....

If you were in California you would more than likely be paying MSRP + charges. I figure I got the better deal from my dealer because I get to ride it :06biker: :D .

Go just south of the border to Corinth MS to Lake Hill Motors. Volume dealer, good prices.
$12,900.00 is not a bad price for an ABS version. I had to drive 450 miles to get a decent price on my ST.

ABS for $12984.00 + TTL for a total of 14035.31. out the door plus the scuff pads for bags and tank ,Plus the fairing extenders, helmet w/tinted shield, 12 volt outlet (which seems silly after seeing the fuse) 7 year warrenty,Shorty gloves,Dew rags for the wife and kiddo and install for stuff for right at $15068
Bottom line I'm happy as a pig in shinola

In Spain, "official dealer price" for an ABS, no extras, on the road, is 24250u$a.
If you are pacient, and search for a while, you can have it for about 20000.
So, yes, I think you've got it right:eek:
Regards.
P.S:What about 30800 or a GW?????

He wouldn't tell me how he sold it so cheap.
If your VIN ends in 371, I want my bike back! :crackup
When a dealer sells a bike, Honda sends them a rebate in the amount of 5% of MSRP, which is referred to in the industry as "holdback." Most car manufacturers do this; some motorcycle manufacturers do and some don't. Honda sends out holdback checks twice a year, in April and October for bikes sold in the previous six months. This serves as something of an incentive to get lots of bikes out the door early in the year, because otherwise dealers will have to wait until the end of the season before they see any money.
Holdback is usually hidden from the buyer, in favor of "dealer invoice." For example, MSRP on a 2004 ABS was $14,499 and the dealer paid $12,454 for the bike. Getting the holdback money chops off about $725, which brings the dealer's final cost to $11,729, or about 81% of MSRP. This doesn't include the cost of assembly ($85 from the Honda price sheet) or paying the electric bill, but you get the picture.
A dealer that does a lot of volume can sell lots of bikes below invoice and still make a decent profit. Those that won't budge from MSRP had better be offering something really special, because they're not getting my business.

the best deal i have seen was a brand new 2005 at mill hall , penn in july..the OTD was 10500.non abs
I picked up a 2006 privately non abs for exactly 11K with 400 miles on it.......long story...
great machine....this is the one I have been after for years.
I keep looking down at the speedo and see the needle sitting at 100.
At this rate Florida will be able to lower the taxes from my speeding tickets (none yet).I have put 2000 miles on it since july 18th

I have to agree with the others you did really well. I bought my 04 for much more than you paid for your 06. My dealer gave me a minor discount of 500 bucks, but he made up for that on the install of the heated grips and 12v socket. I couldn't find one back then here in Florida and had to order mine. I also didn't research the price much as I couldn't leave the State back then as I worked two jobs. So shopping out of State wasn't an option. I also didn't know about this web-site. So once again I think you got a very fair deal especially since you included so many options at the get-go.
