I am going to attempt to get my SS1000 this Sunday. I have 3800 miles on the bike. Will this attempt be bad for the motor, since it has very little miles on it. I don't want to screw anything up by travel around the same speed all day. Comments gladly accepted.

I only had 2400 miles on mine and then took it on a 5000 mile ride with no problem. Have fun and let us know how it turns out.

Should be fine but when was your last oil change? Did you already get the 4k Service? That would be my only concern.
On a side note you didn't mention your routing but if you are going to be on Interstate most of the time you won't be working this engine hard. Safest bet is run a +8mph over the speed limit. Most cops won't bother you there and it takes longer to get a ticket then it does to slow down a lil. Also remember the ST speedometer is off quite a bit. My Garmin shows a legitimate 83mph when the speedometer is showing 90 so take that into account as well as you don't want to be out there running to slow.
Good Luck in your attempt. The SS1000 is not all that hard a ride especially on a ST with its range. You have plenty of time just don't waste it at every gas stop.

Bike should be fine. Remember to have fun with the ride. It's better to be able to try again than to push it when you shouldn't. There is no shame in a do-over. Good luck to ya!

Sounds like a good Route but you may want to add a few buffer miles in there by moving your Start and End Location. Wouldn't want to do this and then not get it cause the IBA says it was 998 miles

Take lots of water, it's hot out there in NV and UT.

Play it smart. The bike should be fine but make sure you focus on yourself first. Stay hydrated and play it smart. Ok I've said that twice.
Best of luck to you. Have a great and safe ride.

Just curious, but why not cruise through more of Nevada?? You can probably wick it up a bit more than in Utah.

When I did mine last year, I was stopping every hr to get off the seat toward the end of the ride. If you haven't got a decent aftermarket seat, call the folks at alaska leather and get a buttpad. http://www.alaskaleather.com Mention the ST-owners group before you cash out or online use the keyword "Deadsheep" for a 10% discount.
No affiliation, I'm just a happy customer.

Thanks to all who replied I am confident that I have chosen the right path, If there is such a thing to get my SS1000 certificate. I will post pics and a tell the story when I get back. Maybe I will be a better man for this. If I can succefully do the SS might even try the BB1500 on my way to WeSToc. But that might be getting ahead of myself, first things first. KEEP HYDRATED! thanks again see ya in a thousand miles!
We'll be rooting for ya! Good luck, have fun, safe journey!
