View Full Version : How Long Did Your Original Tires Last?
I'd like to see how long everybody's original tires lasted, so here goes...
I know there's a lot of choices, but humor me... it might be interesting!
Thanks,
Elmo
PS I believe our Euro buddies ride Metzelers. Maybe someone can start a similar poll for them...

You'll get a variation here on the Bridgestones because some of the bikes I think came the U version and some came with the F version of that tire. One has less tread then the other and only has about half the life as the other.

Hmmm, I can only vote on either a front tire, or rear tire, but not both??

I knew something didn't look right... :-( :cus: I suppose I thought it would magically accept two answers...
Oh well, since the front tires usually last longer, I would like to hear the information on the back tires.
Sorry for the confusion...

The more I think about it... what a stupid poll...
Oh well, maybe I can salvage some information from it. Sorry guys and gals...

Nothing Stupid about it Elmo, just needs a bit of tweaking...
Could be some intresting info there instead of hunting all over the
board for the same information.

Once again, Nice dog Elmo
Bridgestones came on my ST
Rear
9500 miles when I replaced it due to nail or something. Still had plenty of tread left though. Because of my on dumbness I replaced it with the U, not the F. Bridgestone. We'll see how long it lasts.
Front still original with LOTS of tread left. I expect 12-14,000 miles on it easy
I have 14,500 on my 04
Bridgestone OEM
9800 for the rear...prob had about 700-1000 left but I was planning a few long rides so I changed it out a little early.
Front had a little longer to go, but, I changed it out at the same time as the rear.
Stayed with the OEM Battlax tire.

I left my Dunflops on for 5200 miles.
In reality, the Duflops should not be left on the bike when it leaves the showroom floor. In fact, the floor is too good for the Dunflops so they should be removed...well, now that I think about it...the rims are too good for Dunflops. They should never be installed on the bike. :D

I managed a little over 12,000 miles for both my front and rear Bridgestones. They had just reached the wearbars and I was heading for a trip, so I swapped them out. I was pleased with the mileage.

I replaced my B'stones at 8300 miles, and probably could have gotten another 2000+ miles out of them. This set seems to be wearing better than the first set so they should be good for at least 10 - 11,000 miles unless I pick up a nail or something that will damage them.

The Original Bridgestones were replaced at 7,512 miles, but I did not put the first 2,561 miles on them. My second set of B'stones should go about 10K due to my being religious about tire pressure 42/42 psi. and checking tread depth at appropriate intervals with a mm gauge. Wear bars are not accurate and only indicate when the end is near.
