Well sometime in the future I'll be able to contribute, but now another question... for those who have done their own 600 mile service, do you have to remove the plastic (upper cowl anyway) to get to all the chassis nuts and bolts to re-torque? How thorough do you have to be? The service manual isn't exactly clear, unless it means to really go through the bike.
Thanks again for the help.

Hmmmm... anyone?
T'was a beautiful ride to the office, and am looking out the window thinking about a lunch break outside on a bike...

I didn't do mine, but I'm pretty sure you have to remove at least part of the tupperware. Others around here will know more about that than me.
If you want to do a THOROUGH job of checking tightness of all nuts and bolts, you would need to strip off all the tupperware. I would check all the major component nuts and bolts, like wheels, brake parts, final drive and any others that are accessible without stripping off all the tupperware, plus check all tupperware bolts. You don't need to use a torque wrench, unless you find a major component loose. It's a good idea to retorque the steering head bearings too, but that involves removing more parts. If you intend to carry out a yearly winter maintenance, you can strip all the tupperware then to give the bike a thorough going over, including the steering bearings.

Thanks for the reponses. I talked with the shop at the dealer I bought it form a couple of days ago and he said that they do not remove the tupperware at 600 miles, but check everything they can get at otherwise.
I guess I'm good to go!
