I installed the FPR and Tom's performance air filter last night. No problems thanks to good instructions and help from this forum. The install took 1h and 30m start-to-finish. Not bad considering I have never been under the tank.
Today I put 40 miles on the upgrades and the FPR does exactly as Tom claims. Smooth throttle both on and off, more usable power in the 2000-4500 rpm range, and smoother idle. He set me up with a 58 psi to match his air filter.
The filter looks like a typical K&N. I do beleive the improvement with this filter is marginal with more "pep" from both stand still and roll-on power.
Do you need an FPR? Well, you can live without one but why not make the ST perform at its optimum? It DOES work as promised so order one :)
While your in there throw in a perfromance air filter as well.
