With 7,200+ miles on my original Dunlops, and a 3,000+ mile planned month in July ahead of me, I'll soon be ready for some new tires.

I'm an 18K mile per year person and I don't like replacing tires all the time. I grew very fond of AVON VENOMS on my Valkyrie, but I don't think they make this tire for the ST. Understanding that I usually have to sacrifice somewhat on the feel and handling, what are the best high mileage tires for the ST?

Thanks,

Elmo

wow Elmo,
I'm looking forward to repsonses to this thread. From what I've read in other threads, I'm leaning to the OEM Bridgestones myself. It's what I currently have (6k miles), they still look quite good and they performed well at the Gap.

Interested hearing what others say though,

I got 11K out of a pair of Avon AV45/46. I have Pilot roads on now and have about 6K on them and they seem to be holding up very well.( But the PR's are quite loud):03biker:

I have about 9200km on my OEM BT020F. They probably have another 2000+km in them, but I am replacing them this week prior to my 3500+ CanSTOC run.

I bought the bike with about 6000km, but it was an Alberta bike, so they are quite squared off.

I will be keeping them as spares, but they should easily do 12000+km if you don't run them on super-slab.

I am very happy with them. Sticky and work well in the wet.

I changed out my OEM Dunlops at 14,300 km - the front was cupping and gave the bike a wobble when deacelerating. Changed over to Bridgestone 020's and have around 12,500 on them - again the front is cupped - more on one side than the other and also, one side has bumps about the diameter of Smarties on the high spots - strange. Have gone back to Dunlops for the west coast trip (CanSToc) - tread depth measured out at 3/32 on the rear and was squared quite a bit as well. Rather start out safe and do the econimical change at home instead of being at someones mercy on the road.
