Usually just lurk around looking for good road/ride suggestions. Don't own an ST but tour on my busa (and even my GSXR1K at times...I'm 56 BTW). Maybe the ST some day. I must say that I have found this forum to be comprised of probably the friendliest, most helpful group of people I've run across in my years of Internet motorcycling explorations. Anyway I'm heading up to Colorado again this year and noticed that Hwy 90 going West out of Montrose looked pretty interesting. I usually go to Ridgway and take 62 South to join up with the San Juan Skyway. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with SR 90?
Thanks
Paul

...did you have any thoughts on the press the 'Busa got when Big Ben wrecked in Pitt?

Do you mean Montrose, CO. If so Hwy 90 doesn't touch Montrose. There's 50 to the north and east. 550 to the south.
Do you know 149 north from South Fork thru Creede and Lake City to just west of Gunnison? Absolutley beautiful riding alongside the Rio Grande part of the way.
From my 2003 journal
I turn westward once more passing through South Fork. The road follows the Rio Grande River valley through some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. At Slumguillion Pass, 11,361 feet I cross over the Continental Divide and am able to look back at the Rio Grande headwaters and the San Juan mountains. The 75 mile long section of this road between South Fork and Lake City (most expensive gas of the trip at $1.79) is known as the Silver Thread Byway.
The entire length of this road is highly scenic. The southern section passes through typical Colorado ranching country, while the northernmost part is through more arid country.

My map shows 90 out of Montrose as unpaved for most of the way. I would not try this on a highway bike.
Colorado 141 which leaves 50 just south of Grand Junction and then loops west and south down to Telluride is a great ride.

So,,, I take it,,, we have never met,,, and you have never read my ramblings then... :D
Sorry Britman,,, but there IS,,, a RT 90,,, going West out of Montrose... Towards,,, Oak Grove if I remember??? Just a short section is paved last I knew,,, but if you own a KLR or a V-Strom it would be a great road... Always put some "Knobbies" on your Busa and give it a look see... ;)

OH, THAT 90!!! I can see it now I've gone down to a 10 mile view on Streets and Trips
What we here in the south would call a Country Road.

I too am heading to CO. Leaving at 6am tomorrow to attend the annual Valkyrie rally being held in Frisco this year.
If you see a bunch of Valkyrie riders heading towards CO that's why.

Had a Valkyrie for over 50,000 miles. Now have an ST. Love it and still am a communicator with some many great Valkyrie riders.

Thanks everyone. Exactly what I needed to know. Will plan on the 141 route South from 50 near Grand Junction. Busa not up for a bunch of off road maneuvers. LOL

Sure it is Paul, with all the gravel, the front wheel will be harder to get off
the ground... :)
