View Full Version : Heat Observation...

Just got back from a two-dayer, and while attempting to maintain at least a few working nerve endings in my monkey ***, I was shifting my feet constantly on the pegs.
This is what I noticed. If I kept JUST my toes on the pegs, this forces my knees into the tupperware, there is NO heat problem. 85 was the temp - I'm 6 foot - seat is in the middle.
Am I stating the obvious here?
Well, 85 is a cool day for many of us! I can't ride mine much over 90......85 is fine unless it is an hour or so in traffic. Im sensitive, though
At 85 I hav not noticed a bad heat problem. Only when the temps exceed 100 specifically above 105 I start to notice it then at around110 it is just miserable to ride.

Ive had my bike for 4 days now(its been 80s&90s)...I do notice quite a of heat blowing on my shins ....(Im sure I will enjoy this in th cooler weather!)
it doesnt bother me THAT much...so far....guesss I'll really find out when I do a weekend trip!
but as long as the heat is getting AWAY from the engine and the bike performs like its supposed to... I think I can live with any amount of heat displacement it puts out!

Yeah... but that 105 is a dry heat. ;)
My toes only on pegs is working - been out in the 95 degree stuff, next step, I'll be wrapping from my knees down in exhaust header heat tape. :D

So is an OVEN!

Just had my bike in for its 8K Service. While in there I had them install the Fairing Extenders.
Picked it up this morning with the ambient temp showing 108 degrees.
As you can tell from my previous posts I was one who said the temp above 105 was bad and above 110 was miserable.
Well in my 20+ mile ride home from Canyon Honda I can say that the fairing extenders do make this bike rideable in this heat. While not perfect it is a world of difference to me. I feel with a lil more time ventilating the innercowls and possibly wrapping the exhast with header wrap the heat issue for me will definitely be gone.
Is the heat something you notice only in traffic, or whilst riding?
Ciao,
If it is above 105 I noticed it riding or in city traffic. Really noticeable when temps were above 110F

I only get botthered by the heat issue
when ridding in traffic jams over 80 degrees, especially if I'm wearing shorts and sneakers. The positive point is that my ST will be a confortable ride in cold weather where I used to freeze on a custom bike without wind protection.
