Though it was my first on the ST. Definite advantage doing it on the ST as way fewer gas Stops.

Took off Last Friday at 0430 MDT from Spearfish South Dakota and took 90 West to Wyoming 59. Took that South to I-25 then took I40 West out of Albq to Holbrook Az finishing in 16 hours covering a tad over 1100 miles just as it was getting dark.

Gas stops were in Gillette Wyoming due to change of direction, Cheyenne Wyoming, Trinidad Colorado, Albquerque NM, then ending in Holbrook AZ

Hit a lil rain though not bad. Congestion from North of Denver to South of Colorado Springs slowed me up but I hit it midday so it was better then rush hour. Just stopped for a quick bite in Trinidad other than that just stopped for gas.

Will definitely be glad to get my Russell Day long as the seat is just horrible for me but other than that it was great.

I think the Russell would have really made this a nice ride.. Only hangups I had was North of Denver to South of Colorado Springs was under construction and at times stop and go traffic.

Hit a lil rain in a couple of places but not bad enough to stop and put on the raingear.

I found not having to stop every 100 miles for gas like I use to on my Roadstar and Venture when doing Ironbutt rides was both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is you are making time going down the road. The curse is with the stock seat not wanting to stop since I didn't need gas so less rest stops.

I think with the Russell Seat though the ST will make a fine IB ride. Being able to go the neighborhood of 300 miles before having to refuel will definitely help.

I know what you mean. After doing a couple 11k in 24hr rides on my V-Strom, it made riding the ST feel like cheating...:p:

Congratulations on the ride. I just finished another SS 1000 and BB 1500, first long ride on the ST (previous bike was a Wing) and didn't have any problems.

The gas tank will last longer than my bladder, especially when the temperature gets cold!

Congrats on yours as well, I think once I get my Russell Seat and verify it is indeed a day long I will probably attempt another BBGold Should be a lot easier with this bike.
