ForkSTOC July 06 has come to an end. :( It was a successful event.:) One set of SonicSprings and new fork oil was installed in my ST1300. I had the help of Fred A (OK City) and John Wilson (Green Vally, AZ) :bow1: Also a special thanks to Carl H a local Black Bird rider who took the photographs.:bow1: :bow1: I will be narrating the photos this week as time allows, describing what we are doing or attempting to do. Most importantly it was a good time with good friends. Yuall missed a good event. O shoot I am starting to sound like a Texan. :D (Yuall) go to http://community.webshots.com/user/chucksklrst and look under ForkSTOC

Feed back is that the forks are very stiff but seems to hold the road better. Too hot to do a real test ride. Also I have no measurable sag on the front. I have checked with Jeff B and he say he has about 1 1/2 inches of front end sag. Not sure what is going on. Used Jeff's method of instal, which by the way is what Sonic recommends. 10 wt. Oil 125 mm from the top of the collapsed fork and 135 mm length Spacer.:03biker:

This is not normal Chuck, nor is it good. At "least" an inch is necessary to allow the suspension to do it's job.....keep the front wheel on the road. No sag means that the suspension could top out on rebound and possibly allow inertia to lift the front wheel. IMNSHO, there's a problem here.

I think most of us had to adjust the spacers to get proper sag after sonics reccomendation, they are close but every rider and bike are slightly different .Now that you have done it once next time will only take about a hour !!

I found the problem that I had. Sonic send four washers. I used tow at the top of the spacer. The opening of the washer does not allow the locking nut for the cartridge rod to pass thru it. Thus the spacer has about an extra 1 and 1/4 inch of extra pre load, by not being allowed to go up into the fork cap. The manual shows no top washer. I removed the washer and all is perfect. Also we were trying to measure the sag wrong. go to the Sonic web site and follow there instructions. The bike rides like a dream now. Sonics suggested spacer length works for me.:03biker:
