View Full Version : Heat, right peg
Today, I felt quite a bit of heat coming from the right peg to the point that from my ankle up to the calf muscle (yeah, there is a muscle, a real one), the heat was very uncomfortable, almost unbearable. I usually wear my Aerostich. Today I had denim jeans (HD!!!). Other than wearing asbestos in my jeans is there anything I can do. Has anyone experienced that?
Thanks
Right side is hotter than the left you say? You must be riding backwards or in the UK!

We were out for a long ride (300miles) on Sunday with temps above 32 C and I did not experience what you did.
What kind of boots are you wearing?
I had my mesh pants on over the Alpinestar goretex boots and my feet and ankles stayed relatively cool although I do ride with my legs open a bit when it is very hot to get more air circulation.

I have Joe Rocket's above ankle boots. I would called them Harley style. The issue is not where the boot is but above. There is definitelky heat coming from the right peg location.

I notice that on my '03 in very hot weather if I am wearing perfed or mesh pants with short pants underneath and ankle high hiking boots (I know, I know) versus my AlpineStars.
Right above my right ankle a few inches is the focus. It also seems that relative wind direction makes a difference in the heat noticed.
I like to be able to shed the overpants and be able to walk around in short pants and "normal" boots. With jeans underneath and the AlpineStars - I never notice it.
I have mirror extensions and a Cee Bailey oversize W/S.

That's strange. The only place I notice heat is on my left knee, even with leather, when the temps over 85 or so.
Never noticed any heat at all on the right side.

jbim, my 05 was the same, more heat from the right side than the left, usually. It is also the same on two of my other bikes, the Superhawk and the Ninja. The heat doesn't bother me as much as it does you, but there seems to be more coming off the right than the left. I wear high boots all the time and the balls of my feet are usually out toward the tip of the peg (going through turns this allows me to twist my heel up high against the frame and rotate my knee out) and this gives me a little distance between my ankles and the heat source.

Just came back from VT on the ST. Temperatures were 80s to 90s for most of trip. I didnt wear riding boots, but rather hiking boots and my Aerostich one piece suit. There is definitely more heat on the right side than left side IMO. With riding boots on, never noticed the difference, but with the lower boots, it was noticable.
