SWAMBO says "Go" but I have a job offer contingent on the company getting a government contract. As it stands now, I feel like WeSTOC is an 80% probability but I'd hate to commit and then have to back out.

Okay, I'm officially signed up - not that it was easy. The WeSTOC sign up was easy but hotel reservations were a bear (no pun intended).

The Marriott had rooms available at the WeSTOC rate of $75/nt only on the 4th and 6th. I would have had to pay $160/nt for the 5th but a quick email to Whit and he secured 10 more rooms. If you're waffling, you'd better get off the fence or find somewhere else to stay!

Anyway, count me in...

OK guys and girls I have looked at the list of folks coming and there appears that not all 50 states are represented. By my count here are the states that still need to sign up at least one person

ND, SD, NE, WI, IN, MS, AL, NC, NY, VT, NH, ME

I think this should be everyone and may include one that is listed but I missed it.

Lets get all 50 represented

Are there really MC riders that live in those states?
I thought they were only place that HD riders went in mass migrations (sorta like lemmings).

I caught a ride with Kelley in his rental car. That was the year he blew his alternator during our planned day ride, in the middle of the day, in Banff. The ST wouldn't start after lunch. We did have fun in the morning though, soaking in the hot springs and calling our friend back in NYC from our patio lunch to rub in the fact he wasn't there. :D

So Newsmag ended up in a rental car, and I ended up with a ride to the banquet and back.

And don't forget, Rod holds the record for the most WeSToc events attended with the same woman of legal age (not a daughter) who is not his wife........and he's still married to his wife. Clear???? :bow1:

Crap.....Todays Weather Underground Blog, unfortunately GFS is one of the more acuarate models.....

Tropical wave off of Africa
A strong tropical wave moved off the coast of Africa Thursday, near 7N 16W. The QuikSCAT (http://manati.orbit.nesdis.noaa.gov/dataimages21/cur_hires/zooms/WMBds137.png)pass from 3:17pm EDT yesterday revealed winds of up to 60 mph to the west of the center, but the thunderstorm activity has since quieted down. We don't have a recent QuikSCAT pass to evaluate the current winds. Visible satellite animations from this morning show good rotation, and this disturbance does have some potential for develoment a few days from now. SSTs are a bit cool at 27C (81F), but wind shear has declined from 20 knots last night to about 10 knots today. The past three days worth of GFS model runs have been developing this system into a hurricane that threatens the Lesser Antilles about seven days from now. None of the other models develop the system.

Chris, you worry too much. I mean really, what are the chances of your WeSToc trip getting rained out two years in a row?

Come Labor Day weekend, just leave everything behind and don't look back. When you get to Golden, take two beers and call me in the morning.

Hey Ray,

I agree I am overagonizing, but just for the fun of it,

What are the chnces that two rides wil be cnx. by a hurricane?

First, WESTOC got dinged by Katrina.....Rescheduled and planned another ride, basically the WESTOC route but just without the meet in the middle. 2 days before departure got dinged by Rita.....Finally got in a short West Tx. trip in late October.

So I get a little nervous.....:D

I am playing it for the humor but sometimes........... I just worry....

Around 205 in Kimberley. That's the actual number that showed, not just signed up.....

Kimberly (2001) - We had, IIRC, 207 at the banquet. If everyone shows up this year, we could break that record.

212 signed up... Wooohoooo!

Is there any statistics (more or less) on the percentage of no-shows from previous WeSToc's? Yeah Chris!

We would also have to take into consideration the percentage that typically sign up at the door to figure if we're going to have a record breaking turn out.

Even a better idea... Everyone pre-register and show up! See y'all in Golden!

In the previous ones I've attended there were always a few that didn't show up. I've no idea about a consistent percentage, but there's always a few. About the same number of spontaneous unregistered attendees as no shows I'd bet.

Somebody tell me how to get out of jury duty! I'm going in at 8am tomorrow (Monday). I've yet to be picked but I never had important plans before. I told my next door neighbor I was taking my reservation confirmation for WeSTOC but she said they don't care.

This is worse than a hurricane. I could leave early if it was weather. This has the potential to suck big time!

They'll ask you a question about "....making a fair and impartial decision based the facts... yada yada yada... Just smile and say "I love the police... the police are ALWAYS right.... if the little scumbag is in the room charged with a crime... I am SURE he IS GUILTY.... The police are never wrong... The defense attorney will bounce you outta the court room faster than you can spell "Scum bag" Not that I've ever done this....;) :D

I watched this work in Sacrapimento Superior Court.
The lady was from somewhere in Asia and said almost exactly what Tim suggests. The defense attorney didn't get a chance to bounce her: the judge gave us all a lecture on why the *system* works and how that attitude does not support our constitution... long lecture... think of your U.S. civics class...
Anybody from other places can just imagine listening to someone give you a long lecture that you've grown up with and know by heart...
But it worked she got out of juty duty!

In AZ you can delay for 90 days any jury duty; but, you can not get out or delay the 2nd time.

Good luck Fred,

Mark

Way to Go! Your luck was better then mine, in a jury pool asked about the cops, told them I had been broken into, the cops wouldn't do anything, my problem for living where I did, man they couldn't get rid of me fast enough, but had to hang around for the rest of the week just in case they might need me. Was suppose to be there for two weeks, but they finally let about half of go. Have a safe trip to Golden.
