Hello, I'm a newbie here and have seen some thread postings that refer to recalls.
What recalls are out there on the ST1100?
...or can you tell me where to find them?
Thanks and ride safe.

Geo, What year is your 1100? Only recall I was aware of with my 91 (owned 'til 2K) was the BAS (bank angle sensor)... it applied to the ST and the Wing I believe, and was corrected '95-96 ish...?

Far as I know, the bank angle sensor was the only recall on the 1100. Honda replaced the one on my 88 GL, my 91 ST, and Derek's 91 ST. Don't know if it was ever done on Adam's 91, but prolly was.
I cannabilized STick's BAS for one of the STOC crew a couple years ago when he came thru Kingman with a sick one. Gunnar gave me the one of his defunct Silver One to replace.
Anyhoooo, if yurs is newer than about 94, no sweat.

+ on the Bank Sensing Valve on the ST1100.
I owned one from the early days just after the 1100 came out here in Europe, and that was the only recall done by Honda. Took the mechanic 10 minutes to change, mother Honda allowed them 1 hour or so labour for that job. The STealer made a killing from it by doing the job in minutes.
Owned two 1100's from new and neither of them ever missed a beat, one could say they are almost purrrrrfect. Only moved to the ST1300 because this came at a very good price that one could not turn down.

Hi GRN -
I'm currently patiently looking...used bike transactions being what they are. But, I am convinced the ST1100 is just right for me.
Thanks for the response.

'tiz a great bike man, if I hadn't needed the $$$ to pay for the wedding (talk about your double edged sword :( ), I would very likely still be on my '91. I can't complain though, she kept her promise and hooked me up with :04biker: 4 years later... even after having a child  I'll keep her!

The BAS recall was limited to the '91-'93 models. If you look at a used one of this vintage take off the seat and look for an "X" stamped into the metal frame cross member. That means the BAS has already been updated. The mark isn't 100% reliable that it has been done, only if it hasn't, for example when my '93 was updated, they failed to mark it so to be really sure you can run the bike's VIN though your dealer's computer and see if it has been updated or not.
Lastly, you can pull some of the front cowl plastic (not too involved) and locate the BAS on the upper right side. if the letters POM are embossed on it, that's the new one, if it's blank it's the old one.
If it has not been updated, don't let it be a deal breaker for an otherwise good bike, I'll bet Honda would still replace it for free anyway.
