Do you have your Topbox (Honda) or (Givi) on or off the bike.

The Givi box only goes on when the BOSS is riding pillion. She says the acceleration forces from the SILVER ST are greater than she can resist with the low friction of her small butt on the slick Corbin leather and holding on to my belt. You guys with the slower colors may not have that problem. :D :D

Honda top box w/spoiler and Napolean Dynamite :p: Pretty much all the time... I need the wind drag so I don't fold space due to riding a :biker: one!

Just ordered the box from across the pond, because the BOSS says she wants a back rest and I can't see spending $300 for a backrest I don't really even want on my bike! At least the box comes off quickly when I don't need it and will certainly come in handy on long trips.

My Honda top box stays on as I have a red 2002 ST1300 the fastest of them all. I need it to keep me on the bike just like Putt...Munro:D

No topbox currently.
Thinking about farkling a Pelican box. Need to work out which box and pricing and figure what mounting system to use.
I think I'll like the 'hard core' looks of the Pelican versus the refined looks of the others.

I originally ordered the Honda topbox for a passenger backrest and extra packing room for the Mrs. I don't like the looks with it on, but I find myself liking the easily accessed storage enough to compensate for my vanity and I leave it mounted now even riding solo.

I have the honda top box with spoiler. I have it on all the time as I do a lot of running around on the bike and need the extra space. Having the extra brake light is also a plus. I find it is also easier to throw the helmet in the top box then in the side bag.

I lost a LOT of sleep trying to decide which topbox to get. I use to tease a friend of mine for not having a Honda topbox, telling him that the topbox just didn't 'match the decor' of the bike.
I didn't want to spend the extra $$ on the Honda topbox, but knew that 1) I use to tease that guy about the odd looking topbox and 2) knew that if I didn't get the Honda topbox, I would take the Give topbox off whenever my wife wasn't with me. I also knew that when I owned my Wing, I used the topbox an awful lot for my extras. Thus, I went with the Honda topbox and leave it on all the time.

+1 from me on that one. I don't like having it there all the time, and it's really easy to take it off if I want to.
Givi E460's w/ brake light and rack on both, both are permanant residents due to the extra viz offered by the 2nd brake light, and large wrap around band reflector... see and be seen my friends. :D

If you need ideas, and haven't already checked out the KLR/VStrom/dual sport boards, they're worth a look. Pelican solutions are pretty popular with that crowd... I went with the Givi on top on my Wee for the dynamics and brake light, and will probably go with Pelican gear if I end up putting on pans.
I have used Pelican cases for a long time... transporting expensive photo gear by many means prone to destruction (comm. airline, insane off-road, boats, etc...) and they have never let me down. In a photo class I was teaching I was once questioned why I would bother with such a solution... so I walked over to my case that had my 35 mm kit in it (about $18K of Nikon gear), threw it as far strait up in the air as I could, and then proceeded to go jump up and down on it after it landed in the middle of a gravel road. One very proper women from NYC almost fainted :D

I have got the Givi V46 which I use everyday:). When I commuting or running around town it is much eaiser to put the helmet, jacket and gloves in the top box than using both side bags.

http://vstrom.info/ is the only one I have bookmarked. Pour yourself a tall one and Google Strom and KLR, there is a ton of stuff out there. :D

My topbox stays on. I use it to store my helmet when not wearing it. I also keep a baseball hat, spare gloves and a few miscellaneous things in there also. Very, very handy.

Use my Givi only when I need it. Comes in very handy when packing extra stuff. Did some browsing and picked up a used one for $125.

Honda Line Box on all the time with my commute it works great for breifcase and such also love the looks of it. Even though I have the fastest 05 red I like the top box to lul my prey into a false sence of security till the afteburners kick in.

Keep it on all the time, confuses lots of the GW's owners, get comments like" I didn't know Honday made a small Gold Wing". :)
Also, its just too handy to toss stuff in, gloves, camera, helmet, jacket liners.

Since I lost it once and did not get it back for 6 months, I never take it off now.:D I use it all the time for helmet, gloves, tire repair kit, etc.
If I wanted a top box I would have bought a Gold Wing.

11667GIVI E52 - always on. Too convenient for stuff in and out of work, groceries, dog food, beer.... Gotten so use to it that the bike looks funny when I take it off for a bath. (bike, not me) Have had topboxes on almost every ride I've owned for last 25 out of 30+ years.

i have a Shad 46L from murpkskits.com like this one, only all black: http://www.murphskits.com/bags/46grey.jpg
i had a givi e52 on my connie, but i like the way the Shads opening/closing and release latch work. it also has a brake light kit available, and is a few bucks cheaper that the givi....

Commute to the office several days a week -- My GIVI E52 holds my laptop and a soft briefcase -- I use "custom" lining of eggshell foam to dampem bumps & vibes with the computer aboard...
I have not taken it off since the install. I like the looks of the bike better with it. It also put the "Tour" in Sport / Touring.

I bought the E52 Givi for my :biker: and use it all the time. Great for helmet and jacket STorage. I also like having the extra brake light higher on the bike - maybe just wishful thinking but hope it gets attention from those behind me when I STop.
I don't intend to take it off too often as we take longer trips and the extra space is welcomed. A co-STer I rider with :04biker: has the V46 (?) and is looking to upsize to the value meal of topboxes (E52).
