Is the oil filter the same on the ST1300 and the ST1100???

No, I don't think so... at casporttouring, they are different part numbers.

Check with your local honda parts dept. most likely the new 1300 filter number will supercede the old part number.

SAME. First year ST1100 has an oil cooler under the filter, so the shorter filter is needed. Honda's OVER PRICED OEM filter fits both (and a LOT of other HONDA bikes). Either the OEM shorty or the after market longer filters work fine on the rest of the 1100's and the 1300's. I have a 1300. I use the longer filter (more filtering material internally) marketed by WallyWorld called: SuperTec 7317.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking there weren't that many filters being used on bikes and there is more filter info for the 1300.
