Six of us are leaving Friday from Minneapolis and heading to the Denver area. From there we plan on heading up to Yellowstone. Can anyone offer suggestions on a scenic route to take?? Any construction we need to avoid?
Sorry about the short notice.

If it were me and you haven't been there before I would pick up 34 through Rocky Mtn park to 40, stay on 40 to Vernal Utah and go north on 191, the Flaming gorge is very senic. 191 will take you through Jackson hole, the Tetons and into the south entrance of Yellowstone. When you leave the park, if you are headed back to Minnesota go out the NE corner on 212 over Beartooth pass, just awsome.:biker:

I second beartooth. Mt. Rushmore had some construction that I wouldn't want to have had my bike on, but people were on bikes going through it. If you go through there on your way back.
or... after going thru RMNP, head out the West exit, take 34 down to 40, head West on 40 to Co 125.. Co 125 turns into Wy 230 at the border, take 230 N to 130 continue N on 130 to I-80, go west for a bit in I-80 to Rawlins, then
take US 287 to 26 follow that up thru Dubois and into the Tetons...
Visit Yellowstone.. If you can't make BearTooth Pass, then at least take
Chief Josephs Highway (wy 296)
Putt...

Hwy 40 west of Steamboat Springs CO and into Vernal UT is kinda boring as hell. 191 north from there through Flaming gorge is beautiful tho. If you do opt to go through Vernal, just be forewarned that finding a hotel with space will be just about impossible. Lots of new oil drilling happening that way and the workers have taken over the hotels.
When are you heading this way? Im in SLC which is aobut 3 hours west of Vernal

We leave today and will be riding through 100 deg heat for at least the next 2 days, hopefully the mountains will be a little cooler. Please send any more updates as my cell phone receives email. If you are familiar with the area and could send me youe cell phone number it would be nice to have a local rider to call for more information as we pick our routes.
thanks, and realy looking forward to riding through your neighborhood!

There is road conSTruction on the NE entrance to YellowSTone - so if you are doing Beartooth or Chief Joseph, you will hit it juST eaST of Cooke City.
LaST I checked, there was also conSTruction out of the EaST entrance, but I have no firSThand experience with it.
If you get the chance, take 14 over the Bighorns as well.
Enjoy!!!

I was in Yellowstone 2 weeks ago - the construction at the east side of the park is minimal, there was no construction at the north or west sides of the park.
Be careful if you come in from the southwest, the state of Wyoming doesn't have a clue how to conduct road construction. They will tear up a 20 mile section of road to the point it is almost impassable, and leave it that way pretty much for the life of the project.
Very dangerous if you hit stormy weather.
