I'm new here to the forum and the ST rides but just thought I would pose a nagging question. I noticed the dates for WeSTOC are Monday through Wednesday. Wouldn't they have a greater turn out if they scheduled over a weekend? I'm sure there's logic to the dates but just thought I'd ask.

It gives you the weekend to travel to it ;) The hotel rates are better during the week ;) The brewpubs will be less crowded during the week :D

It gives the weekends for people to travel there and back. Being that you live in the Denver metro area, I assume you have ridden most of the roads around. If you have to work during WESTOC in the day, Than by all means come to the hotel in the evening after work to socialize with fellow ST riders. See you there.:03biker:

JuST to echo what others have said....
WeSTOC has always been the largeST of all the STOC gatherings – drawing riders from all across the STates, Canada and a few foreign countries. Because of the typical travel diSTances involved, it has worked better to schedule mid-week to take advantage of the weekend before and after the event.
Are you signed up????

Just curious, can you tell us what the attendance was at earlier westocs? Is this gonna be the largeST.?
Also, did we ever decide who serves the beST pizza in Denver??

While I would like to say this will be the largeST, it will have to really pick up in the next 45 days to be so. We are at 166 currently and IIRC the largeST was WeSTOC 2001 in Kimberly BC with something slightly over 200.
Our firST was in 1996 in Park City UT and it seems like we had about 50 people.
Hmmm, I'm not a native of Denver so not sure, I lived in Colorado Springs for a number of years and I used to like the pizza at both Fargo's and at Giuseppe's Train Depot.

BruceP should remember for sure, but I think Kimberly topped out at ~215. I do remember that they had to find a second hotel........twice. It was cool though, having the complete facility, including bar and dining room to ourselves. :)

Thanks for the responses. I figured there would be some logic to the planning. I do plan on attending but may have to work on Wednesday. I look forward to meeting a lot of the folks on this board. :D
BTW, I think the best pizza in the area is BeauJo's. (http://www.beaujos.com/)
The one in Idaho Springs would be the most convenient for the ride. Also Tommy knockers (http://tommyknocker.com/idahoSprings.html) is also a pretty darn good brewery which is well within walking distance after a good pizza.

To echo and expound on others' responses:
WeSTOC is usually held midweek because of (usually) lower hotel rates, less traffic on good riding roads, and the fact that people riding long distances can attend using only a week's vacation.
The largest attendance at WeSTOC was 2001, Kimberly, with about 207 at the banquet. Second largest was Minden in 2004 with 185 attending, and all of the WeSTOCs since 2000, which was the first time we topped 100, have been over 125.
However, WeSTOC is more concerned with providing a high-quality rally experience than with having large numbers.
We urge you to get off the fence and make your reservations if you haven't done so yet.
Also, please remember that the last day for ordering WeSTOC gear is August 13.
See the website: http://www.stocrallies.com/westoc11 for more information.
See you there!

Don,
Thanks for the reply. It didn't even occur to me to consider weekday vs. weekend traffic but that makes perfect sense on mountain roads in a tourist state! :bow1:
Look forward to meeting you at the rally.
