Need for Farkle Sub-forum on Suspension

Why is there no sub-forum devoted to suspension alterations, upgrades, replacement parts, etc.?

Is everyone 100% satisfied with the suspension of the ST13?

Well, the reason there is no sub forum for it is because there haven't yet been enough posts to warrant one. In such a situation please post in the main farkle forum which is the catch all for less discussed farkles. Having said that, I would think of suspension as more of a technical or tuning issue than a farkle.

Agreed, Burger. (Though a lot of the Farkle sub-forums seem to be equally related to "Technical" issues.)

Thanks for those references, Paul. It isn't that I'm ready (after only 5,000 km.) to change out my stock suspension. Or that I'm ready to start complaining about that stock suspension. (If, as Burger says, there haven't even been enough posts on suspension matters to warrant the establishment of a new sub-forum on it, apparently it's not really an issue for many ST13 riders.)

I do, however, believe that the suspension of the 13 is noticeably different from that of my two former ST11s. Wish I had the 11 here right now so I could do a back-to-back comparison test ride, but, based on memory alone, I think the 11's longer wheelbase may have been one contributor to that bike's less "sensitive" ride characteristics. That is, I think I feel washboard frost heaves and pothole repairs more signifcantly on the 13 than I did on the 11. And I've moved the 13's suspension setting all around the range without yet being able to get the bike to feel as compliant as the 11s were.

I assume Honda knew what it was doing and had good reason to engineer the 13's suspension the way it is, and gawd knows that it works marvelously on smooth tarmac. On the less than perfect asphalt we have up here in the Great White North, however, let's just say it keeps me wondering what the BMW K1200GT would feel like in comparison.

This is how I view it but I'd be interested if others don't agree - not that we're going to change anything... :D

Farkles are an addition to the bike whereas technical, mods, tuning issues are more changes to existing components.

Post in either the main technical forum or the relevant ST1100/1300 Technical forum for now. When there are enough posts to warrant a sub forum we'll gladly create one.
