Curious about how your ST wound up in your STable?

Had BMWs before the ST. Decided high maint costs were getting to me . Decided on a FJR or ST. No FJRs avaliable at the time and nearest Honda dealer had a new 04 Non-ABS ST on the floor.Since I did not want ABS I traded in the R1150RA and rode off on a ST1300, which , by the way was the first time I'd ever ridden one or even heard one run. No regrets at all.

If I had the opportunity to test ride the ST to begin with, I would have never made the mistake of buying a GoldWing.

I did alot... I mean alot of research on sport tourers  I really wasn't sure if it was for me or not... was in my dealer talking about a 919 when they rolled my :biker: on to the showroom floor. BAM! She went home with me that night :D

My wife was not amused that my bike had changed from black to :biker: :D

Many years ago, I had a CBR600 F2, that I had to give up due to a hip problem (broken pelvis at age 16) I went bikeless for a few years, until I happened upon a 97 PC800 in 2000. Due to the upright seating position on the PC, I was able to ride, but never for very long. By the summer of 03 I could no longer ride at all and my hip was a constant bother. Around the end of November 03 I had hip replacement surgery and while I was still out of work recovering with lots of time on my hands, I started playing around with the idea of what bike I would get to replace the PC if I could. I had no plans to get a new bike, since quite frankly, my wife and I weren’t in a financial situation that would allow me to buy a 12K “toy” we were in the process of figuring out how to buy our first house.

I’m not sure quite how or why, but we ended up in a Honda dealership one afternoon, and she saw me drooling over the ST. Basically, she said “you’ve been through hell with your hip….life is too short. If you want this bike, buy it! You deserve it!”

Needless to say, I was floored. I had just begun to walk without a cane at this point, and my hip was feeling great for the first time in 15+ years.

2 ½ years later, I love the bike (17k) love the wife, and all is well.

"Quick-n-Quiet" was a steal-of-a-deal on eBAY...

Sold my BMW back in 1978, so can't say anything applies to directly. I looked at different bikes and browsed the manufacturers websites, but honestly never even noticed the ST. I had been thinking about a 'Wing but couldn't find what I was looking for (cheap :). My ST showed up for sale on a BB at work, I went and looked at it and talked to the guy, who told me everywhere he had been on it, and I knew that was what I was looking for. He offered to let me take a ride, but given the number of years that had passed, I just shook his hand and went to the credit union. Then, went home and told my wife. Rode the bike for the first time after the PO dropped it off at the house and I gave him the check.

I have been without a bike for 3 years do to moving around following the wifes work .
I started getting the bike bug again about1 1/2 years ago and starting surfing the web reading and looking and never finding the one I wanted to cal mine .
I wanted speed and handeling but am getting too old to ride crotch rockets for hours on end .larger too LOL
Always have stopped in and looked at new bikes .
Stopped by the honda Dealer when I had the wife out for dinner no kids around .
I was looking at a ST1300 and a FJR1300 .
I liked the FJ but the ST was a honda and I didnt have to put $500 down and hope I liked it in Sept.
started pricing the ST around the area and a dealer just up the road from me in George Town TX (6 miles) beat everyone but one dealer by a $2000 out the door price so since the other dealer was a 100 miles I stopped in and started asking their customers leaving the shop what they thought of the service Dept as I didnt just want it for less I wanted better service also.
Wife agreed to signing and a week later I had enough time off work to ride my new ST home  only been a week plus 3 days and I'm very very happy with money well spent

The bike caught my eye back in the early 90's and I never forgot it. When I finally was in a position to get one I called my brothers neighbor,a dealer ,and said I wanted the bike. Never sat on or rode a ST until I rode mine away. I'm continuosly amazed by the bike and love riding it. Jeff:06biker:

Came up on Honda CB's mostly, then rode with a guy who had a Connie for a while, rode it and knew it would be the next ride... then a few years later before the Connie became a reality I saw an ST11, and KNEW it might be the next ride. Bought my '91 a year old after 3 test rides to get over my fear of it's size. When I got rid of it in 2K to help pay for our wedding, the promise was replacement with any bike I wanted (as long as it was pillion friendly, she loves to ride), even a BMW if I wanted, in a few years once we had some $ again. Befor I bought :04biker: I rode a bunch of stuff, even some stuff I knew I wouldn't buy, like another Ducati (glad to have lived through the first one:p: ), and a Triumph... then with serious intent went and rode a couple of new BMW's (RT, KGT). I went and bought my ST13 with it being one of the only ST bikes a hadn't ridden yet. Why... because my '91 ST11 was so much better than everything else I had ridden in '04, I figured I couldn't really go wrong

Started with a list of what I wanted in a bike and what I could afford. The ST was the winner!!!

I had a $200 deposet on a FJR but took delivery on the ST before it ever came in. What can I say we had a nice spring in Maine this year I wanted to ride. No regrets.:06biker:

Hi All -- I went from a '93 Kawasaki Concours to my current '03 ST13A :03biker: :D

When it came time to get my new ST, went a local dealer. He said he couldn't get one, so I found one at Chicago Cycle, on the internet. Youngest daughter & I drove down there (in the cage) -- Picked up the bike and came back home -- Maple Grove, MN. (She drove the cage). Since then, she's gotten her own bike, so, the trip must have had an effect!

Switched bikes with a buddy who owned an ST for about 100 miles during a trip to Big Bend this spring (Hot day!) - when I crakced the throttle to pass a semi tractor trailer rig. I blew by effortlessly, noticing the acceleration (and my final speed at the end of the pass). I was like Will Smith in "Independence Day" flying the UFO - "Man, I got to get me one of THESE!".

I guess you could say I did an extended 5000 mile demo ride on two different pre-release ST1300s, one of which I rode to WeSTOC in Ashland, OR in 2002.
