View Full Version : Get a move on.........
Okay, listen up! Who isn't packed and ready to leave for WeSTOC? Mixon, I know you're running late...again! Quit catching mudbugs and get ready!
Tsk, tsk, tsk! Eight or nine links of that Cajun sausage ought to last you until you get back to Louisiana. Now get packed! LOL!!!
(Mixon calmly attaches his bike hauler to the back of a GreyHound Bus heading west and thinks........"no sore butt this time.")

Who will be making daily reports back to the fellow ST-Owner people setting around all busted up,,, like,,, well,,, uuummm,,, like me??? :o:
I am in my "big ride coming up" mode. Keeping my riding to a minimum.
Had the ST apart last night, repacking under seat items, making sure HRCA card and insurance/registration cards are on the bike and up to date.
Oil: good. Tires: good. Brakes: good. Air filter change coming up.
Unlike Joe, I will only need 20 minutes to pack.
I am ready.

I need to replace my tires, would be questionable to make it round trip without going into the wear bars, dry roads not a problem but rain may be another issue. Have the tires in the garage, just have to put them on. Been working on some differn't routes to get there, can leave anytime from the
31st on. So far have the shortest, quickest, and scenic, routes on the puter just gotta decide which one to take.:biker:

I'm in "procrastinate mode" - helps keep me as sane as it's possible for me to be. :22yikes:
Rear brake pads on order. Oil filter on order. Oil waiting at Wally World for me to pick up. Autocom and fuse box waiting for installation. Helmet speakers waiting for installation.
If not for all that, I'd be sitting on a loaded bike, waiting for September 2nd to hurry up and get here.

Ooh. It hurts to miss this. Sounds like it's going to be quite the extravaganza.
Doing my best to get ready for NatSTOC the next week. Caved in an put on a rear tire today after 2 guys at work (ST & BMW) looked at it and said they wouldn't even think of going to Arkansas on it. Listened to the voices of experience for once. Well, that and the fact I noticed my inspection runs out end of the month, and since it was down to the wear bars I wan't going to make it legally into September... Did the oil change a couple weeks ago along with the horn install.
Take lots of pictures.

Rob and Chris will have to take lots of pictures. It'll be the only way they can determine where they actually went. LOL!!

Bags are ready to load, Oil change this weekend, Just moved Autocom headset in the new Nolan and tested it last night. If Rob is bringing a Laptop I am deleting from my list O stuff.
NOAA looking good when I checked for the 10th time today :D
Fred, if you bring the headset and stuff, I will wire your Nolan up for Ya, takes about 5 minutes to do a good job. I also wired my daughters child size helmet to use the earplug adapter cord from Autocom so i can do Arlene's too. Came out pretty clean
The biggest thing I have left to do is transfer some audiobooks to MP3 on CD for the trip and load some new music.

Got the oil/filter changed. Rear end is next. Got the Starcom all installed and tested.. Have a new ME880 on the rear...have a new Z6 for the front in the garage, but the one on there is not very worn. Decisions decisions. New rear brake pads are installed.
Got my new Honda Mirror air deflector kit today, so will get that installed tonight. +1 for my local Honda dealer..I was going to order the Deflector kit and was finding them back ordered everywhere.. I went to local Honda dealer(Joe Harrison), parts manager had a set sitting on the shelf collecting dust..sold it to me for$90.00 to 'clear em out' Thanks to Kevin Horton!
Haven't packed a thing yet, have contemplated getting the tent out and checking it for mold
Just for that... I'm going to wash and wax my baby for the trip
Naw, don't bother... there is usually a wash station in the parking lot...
And you get to swap lies and drink fizzy yellow beer while you're washing it...

I'd procrastinate more if I could find the time!
Westoc is on the agenda. I'll be there shortly after leaving her, 1900 miles after leaving here, 30 minutes after deciding to leave here, shortly before needing to be there. ;^)
Planning is necessary, plans are useless.
Who said it?

What's a normal drive time between you and Houston and when is a good time for you. Unless I get picked for jury duty (got the summons today for 8/28) anytime is a good time for me.

That would be me. :) I always carry a mini WiFi router with me when I travel. Anyone close enough to my room can have the WEP key for the duration of WeSTOC for a beer. :D
Might see you at Evans, that is part of the loop....

Thanks for the invite, but a bunch of us are headed up to Mt Evans Monday. We have permission to coax my ST up the walkway 25 feet to get a winning "beat that elevation" readout on the GPS.
You are welcome to join us, everyone that helps will earn a free shot of Cognac and Adam's WEP key.

I still have ArreSTme3 all tore apart in the garage.
Been installing a J&M CB and integration system I've had on the shelf for a year or two that I bought off a liSTer. Lots a wires to run and problems to solve. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever installed one, especially on an ABS ST1100. You guys are gonna love my solution for mounting the CB unit. :)
Also installing mounts for my Garmin 2730 and I'll integrate the XM radio into the J&M.
Other things to complete: Yank the wheels and put on new tires. My old ones prolly have a few thousand miles on them yet but I hate to have tires changed on the road where they charge a lot more. I also want to change fork springs and put in new fork oil, and recharge/bleed brakes.
Won't be changing oil though, only have about 6000 on the current Amsoil, so I'm good for at least another 4K.
Sync'ed the carbs the other night using the Flo-meter, what an easy deal that was! LT and I did it together in about 5 minutes, took longer to get the air cleaner off. Works great with two people, he ran the screwdriver and I watched and moved around the Flo-meter. Beats the hell out of carb stix, no pipes to unhook/hook up, etc.
JR, I finally go around to installing that Amsoil filter I bought from you. Looks sweet!
