Not good... :( Sure hope he comes thru this OK... My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
That's definitely some sad news. Apparently (from reading the Pashnit thread), he is likely to be released from the hospital in a couple days.
Hopefully a speedy recovery is ahead of him.

This internal bleeding thing can really get ya down. I had bleeding ulcer that put me ICU for 3 days. Not a good time. Took 5 pints, including one of my own (long story.) No accident, no trauma, just a hole in my stomach.
I am sure Dave will survive intact. Blood is easy to replace if ya catch it in time.

Get well Dave.

Wow.This hits real close to home with me. I met Dave at the Sierra Passes ride, had breakfast and lunch with him, and he even guided me back to hwy 41 from Angels Camp via the Mini Dragon. When we got to Oakhurst, we talked about a possible Kings Canyon ride. This guy knows how to ride. I wish him a speedy and full recovery, and hope to see him soon on the roads of the Sierras. Get well, Dave.

I hate to hear about one of our fellow riders and members getting hurt. Scarman, this is Alicia in Clovis. Hope you are doing OK and get to feeling better soon. I'm a pretty good wrench, let me know if I can help.
My best goes out to Dave and his family. I'll say a prayer for him. It seems we have alot of folks this summer going down. This site has more ppl that last year though. Be safe out there folks.

this is great news. I can't be there on Sunday, but tell him Mike from Bakersfield wishes him well, and I lost 60 dollars in the Indian Casino, but the Prime Rib was great! I hope he'll get it.

Definetely good news. Why is Dave's nickname "Scarman"? Is he a wrestler?

Ouch!
Yes it hurts when I do that. I'm pretty banged up but on my way back to recovery. I lost a spleen and 60% of my blood, plus part of my pancreas and all topped off with a left broken arm. I have a long way to go but I do expect to ride again. My largest scar to date... 44 staples.
I wish I knew what happened so I could tell y'all "Don't Do That" but I have no memory. Going into a tight turn... quickly glanced at my speedo to make sure I was at a safe speed and then I'm waking up on the side of the road pushing the bike off of me. I called for the helicopter and they were damn quick in getting to me. If it were not for riding with full gear and the speed of the EMS folks, I would not be here today. The surgeon told me I couldn't imagine how close I was to not making it.
Two pieces of advise I have for everyone are "Gear Up big time every time" and when you go down "ask for the helicopter". I don't care how good you think you feel, ask for the helicopter. If you have internal bleeding, the situation will turn on you so fast you'll be dead before you realize it.
The helicopter went out for three motorcyclists that morning and I was the only one who lived. The surgeon said I was the only rider that came in who was fully geared up and that made the difference.
Hard to type with a cast on, but I feel pretty good today. I appreciate all the prayers and support. It feels pretty good seeing this kind of support when you get out of the hospital. The riders here and from pashnit have been the best. I truly appreciate you all.

I'm new here, and I really appreciate the candor and words of wisdom from all the experienced folks, even when they're laid up (has it been a more dangerous summer than usual?). It's sure changed my commuting habits, so thanks, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Today I found out my bike is being totaled. I'm not too surprised. $7,000 in plastic damage, which is pretty much what my BIL estimated. Now I have to wait for the pay out offer letter to see how much they'll give me for a 5 month old 05 ST1300.
I was surprised to see the 07 ST1300 listed as silver. I'm not big on black but I'll take black over silver any day. I would have loved to see a pearl white ST1300 with nicely done black accents. I doubt there are any new 05's hanging out in a warehouse somewhere, but I emailed a few dealers to see what might be available.
I also found out today that I have two broken ribs on top of everything else. I'm not surprised considering the pain I have in my chest. Overall I feel like I'm doing very well. My doctor told me 6 weeks to get back to 85% of what I was, and the last 15% could take a year or more. I'm pretty beat up, bruised, and dealing with a lot of pain but life is good and I'll get through this.
I've gone over the accident in my head a thousand times trying to figure out exactly what happened and what do I learn from it. I've finally come to the conclusion that sometimes accidents happen and there's no lesson to be learned except how to get back up and keep moving forward.

Dave,
Your positive attitude will take you a long way on your road to recovery. Do it like they want so you don't end up with more long lasting problems that might keep you from doing what you want.

Dave, it sounds like you're well on your way to recovery if you're already thinking about the next ST. Take your time and don't try to rush things. You'll be back on the road soon enough. Heal quickly and comfortably.- john

There were some 05s in Nebraska about a month ago (and they don't seem to be moving out of the showroom very fast in Nebraska for some unknown reason).
Sandberg Honda
160085 Highway 71
Gering, NE 69341-7523
(308)436-3421
Rod's Power Sports
1030 W Saltillo Rd
Roca, NE 68430-4075
(402)423-6230
Both of the dealers are really nice and helpful. Sandberg's had one 05 and Rod's had two as of the end of July.
Godspeed on your recovery.

Dave,
Heal fast and God bless.
As the days/weeks go by, you may be able to recreate the events leading up to the accident...but don't count on it. It is common for people to black out these events during these experiences. If there were no witnesses, then all you can do is study the bike, the gear and the road.
After all this, if the only thing you can come up with is "stuff" happens, then that's OK too. That's why we wear the gear.
If I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion...if and when you do get back in the saddle, please spend the first few months with other riders and not alone. The reason I say this is sometimes the details of the event can come back to you in a flash when you least expect it and it helps to have other people around.
I wish you the absolute best and for a speedy recovery. Thoughts and prayers always.

OTD Motor-Sports in LA states on their WEB Site that they have a 2005 ST1300 non ABS model for $12,799. That is out the door with sales tax for CLOVIS and DMV and Plates. For that as the Beach Boy's used to say " You get the pink slip daddy ". OTD has several dealerships one of which is LA Cycle Sports. You might check them out if you want another fast red one.
Get well soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That 05 was still at Rod's power sports outside of Lincoln, NE last week. The other one was a demo bike. They sold it. If you are interested, I'll sure make a call for you and see if they still have it. PM me if you want, or ask for Kurt if you call. He is the sales manager.
