The folks over on the CBR1100XX (http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=37366&st=0) forum are working a group buy with Second Look (http://www.second-look.com/) for tank covers.
I've approached Roger of Second Look about a group buy for the ST1300 if there's enough interest? He currently only makes the half cover (as shown) for STs.

I bought one a while back before the second-look website kind of "disappeared" for a while. I had thought they gone out of business, I am glad to see they are still around.
It is a really nice and well made cover. I've had mine for almost two years. I believe I paid something like $99.00 at the time.

I'm really interested if the price is right. A full cover would be even better !!
I've had mine about 3 years now and it looks as new.

depending on price, count me in

Can someone fill me in why I would need one of these? Is it just for looks, or does it have a real protection value......

I think it helps to protect the tank from scratches and/or the occasional splash of gas. The jury is still out on how it will effect my magnetic tank bag, probably not much.

you know thats the only reason I don't use a tankbag, because I don't want the tank scratched to hell and back. If I could find a bag (magnetic or otherwise) that wouldn't, I would buy one yesterday.

I have a Joe Rocket Manta magnetic tank bag, the tank cover does not affect it.

It might, depending on how far forward you place the bag. I would think the contact pts. on the rear would be a bit of an issue because you'd have something between the metal and the magnet. Just my .02 though.

AFAIK, he doesn't make a cover for the 1100.
I run magnetic tank bags w/o any problem w/the SL cover. You will rarely see my bike w/o a bag. Tank looks fine after 80K miles. Check the mag bottom before flopping it on and yer good to go. I have found some objects stuck on it from time to time.

Any thoughts on the Mag Knight tank bra?
Only color matched for 03 models I think, but offer black or carbon look options.

I've got one and it does a fine job. The only problem I had is fitting it to the bike. It's not by any means a "plug and play" installation. You might have better luck than I did but if not, you will need a heat gun. I spent about two hours with a blow dryer before springing for a heat gun to get the bra to form fit in some of the curves.

With over 1800 views and lots of replies, second-look could be missing out on a lot of sales for a group buy, unless everyone is just going to buy them anyways without a discount as they arent a bad price in the first place.
