A hodge podge group of high end parts came together to complete 5 months of research. I've tested it with my mountain bike and my bmx bike. Had it up to 65mph and it was solid. Sold my truck on Sunday, bike transportation was the only reason I was keeping it. So I have 2 Honda's in the garage, my ST and my wife's Civic.....beautiful picture.

My grand-pappy use to say, “…never say never”. But I think I’m pretty safe on this one…..I’m pretty sure I will never need your bike rack design. On the other hand, if I did, I think it is really neat (maybe not as neat as the canoe carrier in your avatar!!!)…..nonetheless, looks like your engineering and persistence has paid off. And, Thanks for sharing it with us…..that is sincere, and this is the reason why. Although I can never see a time when I want to strap a peddle bike on my motor bike, I have strapped some other really weird stuff on my bike to avoid having to drive my cage. So, although I don’t have the need to carry a bike, I enjoyed the photos of your rack and got some ideas about strapping on some rather long cargo from time to time.

I can just imagine the conversations you have at gas stops.......

Wow!

That rates up there with Doobage's guitar/picnic/buffet rack! :bow1:

vfourlife,
I really like your rack. You remind me of me. I will futz around for months building something (sometimes several somethings) until I find just what I want. But then I might go out and buy it after I finish messing around with it.

I used to have a cartoon I saved from Cycle World back in the '60's -- wish I still had it. It showed a full dress cruiser, and hanging off the back on boat davits was a Metro. Not the new one, but the one made by BMC back then.

Very, very cool!! :bow1:
Being a once upon a time bicycle racer, I can certainly appreciate the rack.

But, but, the top one doesn't look like it makes the noise. How do you make it go?

But a great idea, started me thinking...about getting my gun to the trap range....Hmmmmmm

Great job, great pics, thanks.

Awesome job. Looks sharp.

I need to enhance my cookie-sheet/bass toting/buffet table and make it into a trunk holder. And only 9 days to do it.

Whahoooo WeSTOC!

I suspect a meeting between Doobage and vfourlife would be akin to getting Orville and Wilbur Wright together to collaborate. People would be heard remarking, "Wow! Look at the racks on those guys!" :22yikes: :D

Now if you can only get a pic with you on the ST and someone else sitting on the mountain bike...:D

Todd, good idea...

Put a rack on the Mtn bike and have a model of an ST on IT.. :nuts1:

I've got a gun carrier attachment already. I started with a hunting rack/case designed for an ATV. It bolts right to my Givi plate and is lockable. The best part is, no one will make eye contact with me when I'm heading to or from the range;) .

My first inclination is to laugh.....but it looks too cool and appears to be well thought out. Good job.

Also muy cool that you were able to get that rig together with various high end parts.

Most everyone that has seen it has had the same reaction.....laughter. Then they want to take pictures and shake my hand.

I have a co-worker that rides his ST100 to work every day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he comes in with a bike mounted on his ST since he rides with a group of bikes at lunchtime. I'll try to remember to bring in my camera with me tomorrow to show you his setup. He's been going this way for about 7 years.

Man, that's awesome. I've been commuting a lot in the car this summer just so I can bike at lunhctime. Your pics may allow me to rethink that for next season! :)

Thanks Ken. Let me know if you need any help with the design.

Will do Allen, thanks. Which Fisher model is that by the way? I'm riding a 1998 Specialized Stump Jumper but starting to get an itch for something with full suspension. The fork seals blew on it and they don't make them any more, so I put on a rigid fork until I could figure out what I want to do...

Stability concerns? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

When I ride with it, I imagine that I am a car pulling a boat. I didn't design it to hammer corners or to top 100+. It is a simple to and from delivery bike with the rack on it. If someone will fund it, I will design a stronger rack for harder riding. Patent pending of coarse:)

These pictures certainly remind me of a question I've been meaning to post ever since I strapped my golf clubs on my rack from Turbo City Tom and rode off to the golf course a few weeks ago. I seem to recall that Honda recommends only putting some small amount of weight on the rear rack. I would be interested in hearing from others what they think is a realistic weight limit for a rear rack on the ST. It would seem you can put much more than what Honda recommends.:biker:

OUTSTANDING! :bow1:
I just joined the ST owners club
http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16048
and make a commute that takes me to places that have AWSOME riding and trails and have been thinking of this a lot as I ride and then I see THIS!

Whad' it cost you to build?

This bike rack is great an all... but I just gotta know. What's the story behind your avatar, vfourlife? And do you have a higher res version you can post to have a look at?!

I strapped a big tupperware storage container full of photography studio strobes and stands to my pillion earlier this week. Rode into work and got all kinds of funny looks along the way. I couldn't figure out why, but then realized that I forgot it was back there until I got to work. Didn't even notice the bulk.

Yeah. that pic looks a little complicted. I like the one wheel removed, tie down, and go. That and it works for multiple bikes. Thanks, Allen

The back rack will hold 6 boxes of shotgun shells, I just happen to know. I'd guess my shooting bag weighs about 30-40 pounds. Easy.

Way cool. Now all I need is a Guitar Rack as well! Can you make one that would also hold a Marshall stack ???? Aw heck, lets get an inverter and run it off the Powerlet sockets!!

That is unreal. I'm a competitive cyclist who drives 80 miles round trip on Sundays to a ride south of here, I've thought about how great it would be if I could carry my racing bicycle on my ST. I never considered that somebody would have actually rigged such a contraption. That is rather amazing.

What I would really like to see is a full size picture of your avatar! Now that's impressive.
