Anybody ever seen this in action:
http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Whistler-Radar-Detector-p-17859.html

It kind of intrigues me since I was thinking about putting a voltmeter in my old ST1100 because of the 28 amp alternator, and this would fit the same hole, includes voltmeter functionality, plus a radar detector. Kind of cool, but the fact that it's on sale suggests it's not been all that popular.

Not sure about whether it's on sale or they're just selling it under MSRP but the top of the line Bel model is a little less and the Escort 8500 is about the same price on EBay.
I'd rather have one of them unless there are reviews that indicate this model is as good.

Just my 2 cents...

If you get the 8500, I strongly suggest to use the HARD system with it as wind noise can drown out the detector alert. Also with HARD no matter where you turn your head you can always 'see' the alert. BTW: Hard is a wireless LED that resides in your helmet.

That one is specifically designed for motorcycle use. It wasn't out yet when I bought my Whistler Pro-3450. The advantage of that unit over all the others is a two piece weatherproof design. It does have a jack for a HARD type of system which might actually be an earphone jack. What it's missing, as is most of these others that many are using is the ability to speak plain english.

I have my Whistler Pro-3450 in the fairing pocket and the antenna mounted behind the plastic in the front fairing. I listen to it tell me the band in plain english through my Autocom. I tell the signal strength by the frequency of the beeps. I can hear it all the time, there are no batteries to go dead or mess with, it isn't distracting like LED's in my helmet or on the dash, it's out of the weather and out of sight from theft so I never have to worry about it getting stolen or having to put it away.

There is a wireless LED helmet gizmo you can get for this unit. Don't know why Aerostich doesn't include it. Some sites do.

Don't know about that one. In the past, Whistler has made some absolutely AWFUL radar detectors. Personally, I think the Valentine 1 and Escort are the detectors of choice. I prefer the V1 for it's display capabilities.

And mine is hidden away, safe from theft or observation by LEOs. (A necessity in Virginia).
