Setup is a breeze once you figure it out. A couple of trial runs won't hurt. I marked the poles where the cross over each other to make it easier to set up and keep symmetrical while you set it up. This tent has two doors, so I don't have to crawl over my wife to get out in the morning.

We also use two go-cots (very very comfortable, I'll write a review later). When these two cots are inside, there isn't much space left. Only outside each cot do we have a little space. However, we store a lot of our stuff under the cots at night.

It has two storage pockets inside each door. Storage loft is optional (we got it, and is triangle shaped. Nice feature). The tent has a huge roof vent on the back side, a pretty big side vent on the front side, and also a vent in each door.

The vestibules could have been a little bigger, but still serve their purpose. The rainfly can be attached to the poles in strategic places for good wind protection, and staked down with the red tiedowns. However, we have never used this feature. The tent does not come with a footprint, so we bought one separate. Should be included in my oppinion.

We have always stayed dry in this tent, even during serious downpours. All in all, very satisfied. It's not the cheapest tent out there though.

Happy Camping.

Got one myself 2.4 years ago for my RideAboot, loved it. Dead easy for one person to set up, kept my son and I dry through 3 days of Maine mizzling, handled winds well...

Do you use any kind of mattress on the cots or have you found they have enough give? Also, do you carry the cots with the tent on the ST1300? Do you have any pics of your ST with the camping gear packed and ready to go?

20" x 7" is a good packing size for that large a tent.

Everything gets strapped on the rear seat on the ST.

We don't use anything between the cots and the sleepingbags. The cots have enough give (BTW we're using The North Face Cat's Meow bags.) Don't have a pic right now, Dorian, but I'll try to get one for you.

This is how I got everything strapped down (d-rings in the back - rear seat metal loops under the seat in the front.) In addition I throw a cargo net over the whole thing just for safety.

Thanks Tor, makes sense to me about the cots and I like the pic showing your straps. We don't use a trunk on the ST but the strap idea should still work. Its smart reinforcing the setup with cargo netting. Next time you have the gear on the bike I would appreciate it immensely if you could take the time to snap a photo and email it to me or post it.

Where did you get the tent? We are in the market for a new tent... our four person tent is bigger than we like.

We got it from here:

the 2006 version is about 50 bucks more. I really don't see any difference betw. the two to be honest with you.

I have never been camping off a motorcycle. I was looking at your pictures and trying to figure out how you would pack tents, cots etc. and a SO and realized she must have her own bike.
