I'm considering these boots -- http://www.lowaboots.com/catalog/ShowBoot.cfm?StockNum=3112100999&Category=8&Type=M

My current moto boots (Prexi...?) are great in terms of waterproofing and comfort on the bike, and they're not too bad for short walks. But prolonged walking can become a problem. More importantly, however, is the lack of an adequately grippy tread pattern -- a characteristic that seems to be universally the case with all motorcycle touring boots. More than once, on both my Wing and ST, I've found my foot plant at a stop to be less than secure; the foot I've had to put most of my weight on has slipped out from under me, nearly causing me to drop the bike. This is especially likely on pavement that is lightly dusted with sand or gravel, but it can happen on very smooth pavement and on very gravelly dirt surfaces as well.

So these military/hunting boots are appealing to me. They are claimed to be lightweight and very comfortable for walking while also being, allegedly, totally waterproof. And the tread is very gnarly.

I can't help being a little skeptical about their suitablilty, however. Anyone have any insights?
