Sweet!!! I am THERE!!!! When is it? I know some roads that are an easy afternoon ride from there... If anyone needs help with laying out the roads...
P.S. I am probably also available to do some pre-event scouting... Hint, Hint! ;)

I don't have a time frame yet as I'd like to hear from locals as to what works best in that area. Any suggestions?

ChipSTer

Summer is HOT!!! (easily in the 90's) in that part of GA... But it is in the Mountains...(or what passes for mountains in this area) It will be 10 degrees cooler on top.... But I don't have a 'heat' problem with my ST and don't know anyone around here that does... Sometime in May would probably be best... April is rainy... June is starting to get too hot... Or if you want fall type colors/temps (high 70's/low 80's), late September, early October would also work... Of course, I don't care what the temperature is... :D
P.S. I've already found a loop or two that could be rides... :D

That'll work... Mid March to mid April is the 'traditional' rainy season...

How does April 26-29 (Thu-Sun) sound?

That gives us a Thursday 'Get There' and a Sunday 'Get Home' day and a Fri/Sat for riding.

Are you sure? That means that the guys staying in the cottages will be more separated from the camping group... And the hike to the waterfalls is longer...

Actually, I ain't skeerrreeed..... I've camped enough that I've come across a lot of critters... Bear (that was fun - left a permanent stain), boar (he never saw me and I didn't stay long), deer in rut (I wasn't his 'type'), bobcat (heard him coming - was being chased by dogs), turkey (now that scared me - almost stepped on him)... And a skunk (good example of close enough is good - was weeks before my nose worked again)...and sundry snakes (cotton mouth, rattler, copperhead...etc...) All good-times.... :D

Even divided by 4 makes it a more reasonable endevor... In fact, it is almost as cheap as a tent camp spot... However those will probably be split as well... :D

ChipSTer
09-12-2006, 02:09 PM
Mellow.... Did I miss it or is the West Rim/East Rim question still outstanding? The West Rim has more cottages (but they are only 2 bedroom) and the cottages are separated by a trail from the camping. The East Rim has fewer cottages (but they are 3 bedroom) and they are in close proximity to the camping....

Mellow

It would be cool if someone local could check out he campgrounds.. what looks close on the map may in fact be worse in person.

ChipSTer
09-12-2006, 04:44 PM
I have been there... :D However, upon further review. And since I will be camping... And it is CampSToc and not CottageSToc... I vote for the West Rim.... The road to the camping area (and cottages for that matter) is much more interesting (motorcycle wise) than the road to the East Rim... So I vote for West Rim... And the cottage guys could ride their bikes over to the camping area instead of walking through the woods...They'll just need to leave by 10:00pm Eastern so as not to disturb the other campers... :D
P.S. The 'Station House (http://www.choochoo.com/features/restaurant.shtml)' Restaurant at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo complex would be a nice place to have dinner one of the nights... Reservations required... Only about 30 minutes of freeway to get there from Cloudland Canyon State Park...

Mellow
09-12-2006, 05:10 PM
Sounds good to me, the one time I was there I think I was at the East Rim and it was late so I didn't have a chance to checkout the area much. But, what little I was was great.

Based on the last CampSTOC, some will hit the restaurant and some will prefer to bring/cook food at the campground. I've been told there will also be demonstrations - campground cooking demonstrations.:bannana

As it stands, this whole event has taxed me beyond my usual event planning efforts. LOL

I'm going!! I will have a "demo" again...another dessert. I know Steve & Tamera said they would also be sharing something. Of course, if B.J. camps this year, he'll have some new gadget to demonstrate. Everyone else....Don't worry... you don't have to bring anything... Last year I thought it would be fun to bring something unusual to share... BJ just happened to have some interesting camping gadgets. At WeSTOC some of us CampSTOCers decided to continue this "tradition". It sorta fills the "down time" around breakfast or after dinner.

For those who missed last year, you may want to read the old posts. Some campers brought little more than a tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, and clothes. Most ate their meals at local restaraunts, and/or picked up groceries (beer & snacks) locally. Many had some means for preparing AM coffee. I, as usual, overpacked and had a lantern, stove, cookware, hammock, campchair, fishing gear etc... Mellow has no planned agenda. Just get together the night before, and pick a route on a map for the next days ride. A couple of us chose not to ride, and just hung out around camp & explored the local area (I tried but did not catch any fish).

There were at least 2 tents per site, and everyone just sorta met in the middle sites for campfire etc. I recommend camping over the cabins just for the social aspect. PS if you do get a cabin, and it rains, expect ALOT of company.

Check out MotoCampers.com there's lots of good info there and hints/tips for making it a great experience.

Getting an air mattress will help you sleep well, the thermarest type is good for some but takes some getting used to. Walmart has a 8 inch thick air matress and a 4 inch thick one. I use the 4 inch one and it's more than comfortable. The less air, the better it will be in cold weather.

For the ST, I'd recommend the Cabela's Waterproof Duffel

Click for Review (http://www.motocampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13)

I use the Backpack version for the Wing since the back seat has arms on it for
the passenger and the duffel doesn't work as well with that.

If you (or anyone else) thinks of a specific question (or would like to see a picture) about the park, let me know and I'll stop by and see if I can determine the answer... Otherwise we will get our answers via internet/phone...
P.S. Is anyone planning on holding 'blocks' of campsites or is everyone 'on their own' pertaining to reservations?

Hey guys I got a strange request, my wife is flying to Atlanta on thursady morning to see her sister for a few days and then she will bring her up to me at CampSTOC on friday evening. Here is the request I'm not sure how to ask, she is staying over friday night with us since we rented a cabin which is all good and she would like to go along on a day ride thru the mountians if I could find her someone to ride with saturday. I don't know if this something that should be asked or not, but if anyone is interested in a pillon for a few hours I have a sister in law looking to go for a ride, very nice, mid 40's, 5'4"and 125# . I really feel stange asking but I did. THANK GENE

Can we assume she will have a helmet? Since I myself will not be bringing a spare (helmet that is, not sister-in-law).

edit to add: I can even produce a permission slip from my wife if required.

Hey Big Jim, You need to reserve a site, unless you make arrangements to share a site with someone that has a reservation.

May I suggest that those of us that are confirming attendance indicate a day of arrival & if your campsite is available for sharing... and any other important information you think might help. These are loosely planned gatherings after all! LOL :)

Guys thanks for offering to allow my sister in law a chance to enjoy sport touring with a great group of people. I guess we'll wait and see who is there that weekend and go from there. Thanks again, my wife gave her sister a call and she was thrilled to get the chance to go riding. It has been years since she was on bike and that was a harley, isn't she in for a nice surprise !

I'm gonna be there, could bring the back rest for the Corbin. She'll need ATGATT, of course, and I ain't gonna haul that from AZ!

I have a week between Moonshine and CampSTOC. Gonna visit mom for a couple days so not sure when I'm gonna arrive.

Also, I'm terrible at making reservations. Anyone got a tent site to share?

I'm planning on arriving about 4:00pm local time (eastern)... Can't miss me... I'll be the one with the midnight blue Honda ST1300 (and a tent).... :crackup Seriously though, I'm 6'5", 280, bald, glasses, mustache and goatee (I know that style has a name, I just can't think of it)... Small orange-ish Eureka Zeus tent(claims to be a 2 man tent, but 2 of me just would not be comfortable in it). Motorcycle has the flat black Turbo-Tom rack on the back. I've got white dragon stickers just under the ST1300 logo. I wear a white HJC cymax (flip-up) helmet and all black tourmaster jacket and matching pants. I'll try to get a site near the action... (we might have to threaten a few with bodily injury if they don't go to sleep at a decent hour)...

I made my reservation online. Electric campsite w/2 tents for 3 nights costs $60. I paid with a credit card. I received an email confirmation with a confirmation number. I'm supposed to bring it with me. I could not reserve a particular site, but I believe that I'm guaranteed one. It shouldn't be a problem for Dan Boothby and me since were planning to arrive Thursday morning.

No problem... I'm going to post them separately so that I can give a little description... :D
This first loop is only 105 miles and ends back where it began - Cloudland Canyon State Park.
The first part is a scenic drive north down the top of the mountain. Along the way, you'll pass Lookout Mountain Flight Park. This is very scenic and is good for a photo op. Supposedly some of the very best hang gliding conditions in the world. Further down the mountain (and just before you drop off into south Chattanooga, you'll pass Rock City (Everybody knows about Rock City). At this point you'll be traveling down Ochs Highway (pronounced 'OX'). Pretty curvy and quite a bit of traffic on the weekends. Once you reach the bottom of the mountain, you'll pass the Incline Railway (the worlds steepest trolley car system) that travels up and down the side of Lookout Mountain (could be another photo op). From here you'll travel through part of downtown Chattanooga until it is time to get on Hwy 27 (north) and cross the Olgati (pronounced 'OL-JAA-TEE'). Just across the river and over Missionary Ridge you'll exit Hwy 27 and get on Signal Mountain Road (Hwy 127) headed north. Turn right onto Mountain Creek Road (after you pass the Komatsu plant). Now the fun part starts...:crackup You're going to turn left on what is locally called the 'W' road (in reality I believe it is called West Road - you'll see why it gets it's name when you get to the end. From the top (you'll know when you get there) bear left onto East Brow Road (there are a couple of photo op places on this road - don't freak out when the road changes into Palisades Dr... Keep following the route until you get back to Hwy 127 south (back down the mountain)... Be sure to keep a look out for the flying saucer house about a third of the way down... At the bottom of the mountain, you'll take a right turn onto Suck Creek Road - this got it's name because of the creek being name Suck Creek - which got it's name from the river boat captains because of the way the water entered the river caused it to 'suck' the boats into a sand bar - created by said creek - which in my opinion would indeed 'suck'... Just after you cross suck creek (and I mean immediately after you cross suck creek) you will take a left onto River Canyon Road (will turn into Mullens Cove Road just about the time that TVA's Raccoon Mountain pumped water storage facility becomes visible across the river)... This road has some good sweepers and some tight goat tracks... The scenery varies from run-down, poor white trash trailers to $200 million dollar homes (sometimes right next door to each other)... Of course the river is visible nearly the whole way on your left while you've got the mountain going up on your right... When you reach the end of this road, turn left on Hwy 27 and in a couple of miles turn left again on Dixie Hwy (Hwy 41)... When you cross the bridge over the Tennessee River you will be able to see (to the left) TVA's old, defunct Hale's Bar Dam that was replaced (way back when) by Nickajack Dam further downstream. As soon as you leave the bridge, turn right on 134 (along the edge of the lake - may be a photo op somewhere near here)... This road will turn into 156 after it crosses (over/under - don't remember) I24... Stay on 156 as it crosses the 'edge' of a mountain - it has some good sweepers and some tight turns - be careful (no goat tracks here)... Turn left on 377 and go back up the mountain, turn left on 90 (turns into 301 at the county line), turn left on White Oak Gap Road (Hwy 136) and go back down the mountain. Follow this road thru Trenton and back up the mountain to Cloudland Canyon State park... I have traveled this route (on a motorcycle) in two hours... I don't recommend doing it that fast... :22yikes:
P.S. Caveat: I haven't live in Chattanooga for 12 years.... Some of my data my be out-of-date...

ChipSTer

Here is the second installment (I'll try and get to the third (and best all-day one, tomorrow - It's getting late)...

This route incorporates 4 of my favorite roads (+ a few that are fun, but don't make my top 10 list)...

From Coudland Canyon State Park you'll drop down into the valley (headed east) and head basically toward Chatsworth. The roads between the park and Chatsworth are ok and can be fun, but they are only to 'get to the fun roads'... From Chatsworth, the fun will start with the road up the mountain and past Ft. Mountain State Park (very nice road and really a lot of fun)... From the end of this road you'll head mostly north until you get to Duck Town (and who can forget nearby Dog Town, Turtle Town, and last, but not least Burger Town - Don't believe me? Look it up!)... But the weird city names are not this region's claim-to-fame... This is the location of the world's largest Copper strip mining operation. This thing is so big that shuttle pilots can see it from space! You'll never notice it from the ground (aside from all the 'slag' hills around the place)... They have put a lot of effort into cleaning up the place and it may be a lot better than I remember... Take a left (south) on Hwy 74... At the bottom of a long straight, downhill (soon after getting on 74), you'll notice on the left some 'stuff' in and around the river (I still have a hard time calling it a river) where the whitewater events were held when the Olympics were in Atlanta. This is also the start of one of the worlds longest flue operated hydro electric operations in the world... And also the beginning of some fun road as 74 hugs the Ocoee River... At the end of the 'fun' part (you'll see the lake open up on your left), Hwy 30 turns right - This can be a fun out-and-back run (if you get to Reliance, turn around and come back - There isn't a better way to get where you're going and you're vely likely to end up on a dirt road if you try)... Follow the route from here (these are just-to-get-there roads)... One note: When you cross Hwy 60, you are only a few minutes from Red Clay (Important location for the Cherokee Indians)... Appison Pike can be fun, but be careful thru Collegedale (home of Little Debbie - and yes they do have a Little Debbie store there - You paying attention ACL????:crackup - also the location of a fairly significant sized 7th Day Adventist College) or you'll get to meet the local law enforcement. Don't ask me what happend to MapSource, but when you go down Hunter Road and get to Hwy 58... just stay on Hwy 58... no need to double back and take a side road to Hwy 58 (again!)... The Webb Road, Kings Road route is a lot of fun with some tight twisties and some elevation changes, but it can be skipped and just stay on Hwy 58 (turns into Hwy 17 once you go under Hwy 153)... Once Hwy 17 takes a 90 degree right and you stay straight (following the route), you'll soon be on Crest Drive. Crest drive winds it's way down Missionary Ridge past some of the 'old money' homes. Lots of photo ops along this road. Once to the end of Crest Drive, another 'get you from here to there' section will take you to Lookout Valley where you'll come up the valley in the shadow of Lookout Mountain... Then up Ochs Hwy (pronounced 'OX') and back down the top of the mountain (past Rock City and Lookout Mountain Flight Park) to Cloudland Canyon State Park. I have ridden most of these roads but I have never ridden this entire route... YMMV

Thanks, John, for the files and the writeup.

I've run into a few quirks with Mapsource inserting unwanted loops. Usually when I delete the waypoint back to the previous one and then place a waypoint near the unwanted loop it will redraw correctly.

Both routes look like they'll be good rides.

Hope to see you at CampSToc..

Last installment - Park to Park Loop (Cloudland Canyon to Fall Creek Falls) RTE - Lunch at Fall Creek Falls buffet...
Start out toward Trenton... Down the mountain, thru Trenton, then up the other side... Across that mountain, down the valley, across the Tennessee River and then up Monteagle Mountain (the most treacherous section of Hwy [according to the truckers due to it's 10% grade - very hard on semi's brakes - we will NOT be on the Hwy] east of the Rocky Mountains. Then we'll head Northeast up the mountain to Fall Creek Falls... There are only a couple of stretches of road that are boring... Hwy 8/111 being one of them... The road through the park is absolutely wonderful... Except for the traffic and the Rangers... :D Eat lunch at the Fall Creek Falls Restaurant and then head East on Hwy 30... Down the mountain to Pikeville and up the mountain on the other side... Then it is back roads half way back on the top of the mountain (maybe a dirt/gravel section - about 2 miles - I think I heard that they paved it, and it saves about 50 miles of riding). Then back off into the Sequatchie Valley via Henson Gap (another great hang gliding mecca) to East Valley Road... Then you will head down the valley (left) until you come to Powell's Crossroads where you'll hang a left and go over Suck Creek Mountain... As soon as you get to the bottom on the other side, take a right on Mullens Cove Road/River Road. This will deposit you onto Hwy 27 (turn south - left)... Turn left again on Hwy 41 and cross the Tennessee river on the 'old' bridge.. Turn right at the end of the bridge and then follow this road until you reach Hwy 377... From this point on you'll be doing some 'back-tracking' to reach Cloudland Canyon State Park...
This is the route that I would be most interested in taking on Friday (due to the lower amount of traffic in Fall Creek Falls)... Lots of photo ops along the way...

Hello, All.

Online reservations are good; that's how I did mine.

However, when I rode out there a number of weeks ago, the ranger told me that every weekend there is at least 2-3 people that show up without their reservation confirmation - or they did the wrong date when they set it up.

Just be careful...

Looking forward to meeting everyone there next month.

Slammr... the details are all here in this thread. There isn't any real plan in place other than a certain area of the campground has been identified where folks will be staying, and a bunch of great routes have been suggested for our day rides. Riders will be arriving on different days and plans are developing as we go. There is probably going to be a group going to dinner locally, and hopefully we will be enjoying some fun around a campfire after sundown. 8-)

(if you have it) What bike-to-bike comm gear do you have? CB or FRS/GMRS? And what channels do you normally use for bike-to-bike?

I am still toying with the idea of a transceiver and have not yet decided what to get.

Yeah...as far as GPS is concerned I've never had an issue in any part of the Smoky Mountain range... In the Rockies, I've lost reception before but it never lasted longer than a few seconds at a time and never long enough to make me loose my way - it's usually next to a mountain bluff or wall face on one side and tall trees on the other... not even something that should be and issue.

I have had my XM radio on my Roady2 lose reception many times. I don't know enough about the zumo to know if this is an issue with it or if you were asking about radio reception or gps location reception.

Even if you did, for the gps anyway, it won't be enough of a loss that you will be lost... I have lost reception from time to time.. but I've been on the West Coast, the Canadian Rockies and Rocky Mtns and the Smokies and don't remember loosing enough of a signal that I was lost.. typically, you'll never even notice you've lost it before you get it back... You'll be fine, don't spend the money until you've used the unit and know it will help you..

You may lose cell service in remote areas (i.e. South East Arizona), but the only reason to lose GPS anywhere in the contiguous 48 is geographic shadows (more likely in the canyons of a big city) or weather conditions.

Right rear bearings are shot... Both of them (Pic of bearings from parts manual attached)... This should be warranty work... But I would do it myself if I knew how (and had the tools - my garage is NOT set up for that level of mechanic-ing), just because I hate this dealer (65 miles to the next closest dealer). I've also got a shade-tree guy that has a shop that could probably do it (and I trust him)... I've replaced bearings (and races) in cars before with nothing but a brass drift... But the Honda is built to such tight tolerances, I'm afraid to even attempt it (I guess I need to break down and buy the service manual)... It really is all my fault... I wanted to get ALL the tread off the tires before I put on new rubber.... Let this be a lesson to you all.... Don't wait... DANG IT!!!
P.S. Should I have the dealer check the rubber dampers as well? Bike only has 15k on it (but it is a hard 15k)...

John, I have 2 bearings at home that were backups when I had my ST13. I keep meaning to bring them to an event for give-aways.

it's not the full set of 3 but I might just have the one you need. If you have a part number - I'll check when I get home and mail them to you tomorrow morning.

It may not be over yet. I had those go out on my '04 at about the same mileage. My dealer service guy found a crossover match in a 4 wheeler bearing. Only difference was it had seals on both sides. I bet there are more 4 wheelers in Bama than ST's!! That's a paired set that have no seals on the inside. You need 2 right? The other problem will be getting the old bearing off. Mine fell apart and had to be torched off the collar.

If you get the bearings, any decent auto shop with a press and torch should be able to do the job. Just bring them the drive flange.

Good luck

ChipSTer- any updates on your bearing problem?
Yep... All the parts have been ordered and are on the way (overnighted from Honda to Honda Direct Line ---> overnighted to me - one third of the cost is only shipping!)... I should have them by Friday and I'll have all weekend to FIX IT MYSELF! No joy with the stealer (I was quoted a Thursday or Friday of next week - can you say, "Bye, Bye, CampSToc"???)... My 'shade-tree' guy told me that he won't have anyone 'overnight' parts to him, so he quoted me the same time-frame. However, he explained to me how I could do it myself... Almost a step-by-step tutorial. So I'll keep him (for now)... The stealer can kiss my money good-bye (I'll only go back to him if two conditions exist; 1) I have plenty of time. & 2) Total repair covered by warranty)....
I've got my oil (finally)... Opted for MX4 Mobil ($7+/quart) because it was right there in front of me... So I'll be changing the oil and breaking down the flange while I wait for the parts to arrive. I do hope that HDL doesn't send them so that they need a signature... :22yikes:

John;
You may want to get a six pack ready (for your shade tree guy) in case you need to call him into service to press the old bearing off and the new ones on the collar. I know it can be done without a press, but it'll save you lots of time and many stessful moments.

Sit down, take a few deep breathes and have a brew. Positive vibes from everyone now.

Thanks Daryl; I didn't realize TDG was that week. May as well find a spot on the road and watch the parade go by. It's a time trial that day, but should still be exciting. I'd like to be on the road to Brasstown bald on Friday.

Bearings (and service manual) arrived via UPS overnight this afternoon. I am happy to report that the bearing change has been completed (I've attached a few pics). It was amazingly easy and believe it or not all it took was a BIGGER hammer!!! :D I think I've dinged up a few of my sockets by using them as drivers, but all-in-all it came out amazingly well.... Should I be worried that some of the ball bearings were missing from the old bearing (and I couldn't find them)? I've attached a pic of the bad bearing (it was only a matter of time - and probably not that many miles)... Next time, I'm going with the super-duper, double sealed bearings!!!
P.S. To support the flange while I drove the bearings out, I used a 2" PVC coupler. It held up really well and I think it should be good for a dozen or so uses (and the best part; only cost one dollar)...

...now hows your oil problem going John?...
Well, I can certainly tell you that I will be a loyal customer of AutoZone... The manager was shocked that someone had returned used oil and gotten a refund and he apologized profusely to me for my trouble...(you don't suppose he was worried about a lawsuit?)... Anyway, he gave me 8 quarts of MX4T!!! I still have to do the work of flushing it out and re-filling, but I think I can handle that... I went to wal-mart for a gallon of Rotella ($8.88) to use for the flush... I'll keep the other 4 MX4T's for the next oil change.... Woo Hoo... Finally, some good luck!!!

Motomac if they could set up as close to the cabins that would be great, we got cabin 16. chipster posted a few routes and one is real similar to one Kreis made for us on friday to get there maybe we could combine them and we can meet you guys mid route.
The cabins and camp spots are not at all close on the West Rim... You'll be riding your bike over to the camping area (or walking a trail through the woods)... :(

Can you be near/at Fall Creek Falls State Park around lunch time? That would be a good meeting place... :D
P.S. I can't read *.GPX files... :( Only *.GDB...
P.P.S. Fall Creek Falls State Park is NW of Pikeville, TN (up Hwy 30)

Just a heads up - there was construction on US 27 a week or so ago when I was on it between Summerville and La Fayette. I'd avoid it. Don't know if the construction goes on south past Summerville.

Have fun, dang it...

Original intention is to run the loop clock-wise... If you met me (and whoever is going to do that ride), You'll be back-tracking 32 miles to get back to Fall Creek Falls...(or we could go up 8 to 111 and go into Fall Creek Falls from the back side)... Comments/suggestions?

P.S. I have a little bit of an ulterior motive for this particular route (as it turns south off of Hwy 30 (on top of the mountain between Pikeville and Dayton - right across Hwy 30 from where you guys will be getting on Hwy 30)), it will go right past my Aunt's drive way - She's having surgery on Monday to fix an abdominal aneurism and I want to stop by and give her a hug and let her know that I'll be thinking about her on Monday... I think it would really make her day if a bunch of "Hell's Angels" stopped by... :D

Still???? I was up through there LAST YEAR and there was construction in that area (from the looks of it, it is going to be a nice, boring, straight stretch of highway)....

No problem.... I'm not sure if Fall Creek Falls is on Central Time or not, but I would like to arrive there around Noon-ish (Central Time). Therefore, you would have to meet me/us at the Mt. Leo Texaco around 11-ish Central Time (it is only approximately 45 - 60 minutes to the Restaurant from there)... PM me and we'll swap cell numbers... :D
P.S. I've attached a picture showing the location of the Texaco station...

For the people doing the Park-to-Park route with me on Friday - The plan is to leave the BP Station (on Hwy 136 just west of I-59 in Trenton) gassed and ready to ride @ 9:30AM Central... Personally, I plan on eating breakfast in Trenton (I'll be leaving the park around 8:00AM Central Time) and then hitting the pumps at the BP. Please arrive a little early if possible... I would like to have a pre-ride briefing... Thanks. :D
P.S. The riding style will be a shade on the relaxed side of 'brisk' (I don't go as fast as NCSam or BentAero - but it has been a year since I rode with them).... Dress code is ATGATT...

Everything is in the 1st thread, no rally fee. At 9pm I'll have some give-a-ways and we should be in the West Rim campground...

There are probably a few there already - I'm sure motomac is there by now.. LOL

Motomac just called me and said all the reservable sites are taken - probably by everyone here - so he's in the walk-in area which is only about 25 yards from where you park your bikes. He's the first to arrive and they just shut down the road to the park for the bicycle race for around 2 hrs.

OK, here's the deal. If you reserved a space you will be in another area of the park from the walkin area. They allow 2 tents per site and 6 people in the walkin area. $10 a night, showers available, no electricity. BJ and Hoot are in site 1, Diggers and I are in site 4.
