Has anyone owned both of these boots to tell me if the new one is actually new and improved, or perhaps not?

I know that sometimes in the next generation of a product things can indeed get better . . . but that sometimes the reverse is true due to cost-cutting measures. My goal is a boot that is very well made, good shin guard, well insulated for either the cold or the heat from the engine.

THANKS!

I've got the older version. When I looked at the pics of the new version, I see that they got rid of the lower velcro contact point. This part can hang up on the rider peg sometimes and generally be a bit of a pain at times, so I think the new version is likely better. I will wear these out first before getting another (I've got about 3 pairs of boots to wear out, :bannana ).

I've had only the original Oxtra Matrix. For me, the adjustability of the boots via that lower velcro strap is a great feature that means I can wear the boots on my boney, narrow feet. The new design of the Matrix 2 (without the lower velcro adjustment) may remove them from my list of replacement options. Hopefully replacement is some years in the future.

Anyone have a picture of both versions? I'm not sure which version I have but I think it may be the second version.

Curt, yesterday I googled it and came across photos of both. The key difference is in the portion of leather that you velcro down after you zip it up.

On the original it goes all the way top to bottom, with a bit of a wavy curve to it. With #2 that piece of leather just covers the upper half, and wraps back in a more straight forward fashion.

Not sure how clear that is . . .

Thanks. I guess I prefer the older style which is what I have but so long as it still keeps the water out I would be fine with it. I would prefer that they kept that flap there even though it didn't really stay stuck to the boot, it still helped keep the road splash off the zipper.

Thanks,
Curt
