So I've decided to try this. On 09/25 I am going to do a SS1000. Before this the longest ride I have been on was about 300 miles. I know not very far but I am new to the ST and my old bike was never meant for LD riding.

I have a nice route planned. It is all roads I am very familiar with. I'll start out from my little hometown in northern Ohio. Head east on I-80 to Lewisburg,PA. Then south to Hagerstown,MD via Harrisburg,PA. Next up is east to Morgantown,WV. I'll then go south to Charleston,WV. After Charleston I will head east to Ashland,KY. Finally north to Home going thru Columbus.

My question is about the ride log. Do you document all the stops you make? What DO you need todocument? Ok sorry that was two questions.

Thanks for any help, Jasen

Yes, keep all your fuel receipts & note your mileage & the time on each one of them. You will need to make sure you get a receipt at each corner of your route & you will need a start & stop witness.

Good luck & have a great, fun & SAFE ride !

Jason,
You definitely have to log any fuel stops on the IBA log. The rules also say you should log any rest stop over 20 minutes. All log entries are the same - date, time, location and odometer reading.

Also, as was said previously, you need a gas stop at each "corner" or turn in your route. So if you have some short legs where you'll be changing directions this will add stops (and therefore time) to your trip. When I did my SS1000 I didn't find time to be a real issue (1100 miles in 17 hours) so the extra stops probably won't penalize you.

One last comment - I'm not from your area so I'm just speculating, but some of the cities your route takes you through are pretty big. Don't forget to take traffic into consideration since that will eat time as well.

Best of luck,
Al

Jasen I live around hagerstown and you want the 81-70 route change to be in the miidle of the day early morning and evening back-ups are the norm.

Are there toll roads up on that route, I hate toll roads when doing an IBA ride!

Yeah I will start out on the Ohio turnpike. It shouldn't be so bad though being I am starting on it at an early hour.

thanks, Jasen
