Would there be a problem with registering and just riding up Saturday morning to toodle around, meet some people, eat dinner and head back home? I live about 160 miles from Ft. Davis so it would be a nice day ride for me and a chance to meet some of ya'll.

Why would that be a prob? :) We had several riders from the Golden area just show up for dinner... stopped by after work to meet people and went home ;)

Thanks Sherob, I didn't know if that would be bad etiquette or not. See some of you in Ft. Davis.

No rooms are available... anybody got one you'd be willing to share for half the cost?

I just reserved one site - we can put up to 3 on a site I believe.. but we've done more in the past...
If you want to reserve one, call (512) 389-8900.
I've only heard of a few of us camping so 2 sites might work.. I think the primitive w/water are available.

I tried to reserve a site on line today but apparently didn't go thru, I will try the numer tomorrow morning. Are there any bridges in the area? I'm starting to get anxious here now. There must be alot of people headed out to west Texas.

Yeah... there are some bridges.. LOL
The issue with that area is there just isn't that much around. Alpine is the nearest big city with several motels but it's typically the first place people go if there are events nearby.
Ft Davis is very small but does have at least 2 hotels and the Motor Inn.
Most of the time I've gone there those that didn't camp stayed in Alpine but if there's nothing within 100 miles... that includes Alpine.
