Some Give-a-ways provided by

I will continue to update this first post as things develop to keep it all in one place and easy to find

Some News for ’07:
• The event has been extended to four days for more riding, and pulled back on the calendar by 3 weeks to offer slightly milder conditions and longer days (more riding!).
• We have changed the format, there will not be predetermined groups and leaders so folks can make their own small groups, and spend their time here riding where they want, when they want, and how they want. A great deal of local route and attraction info is provided on grouprider.com, in the NNESTOC (http://www.grouprider.com/jg.php?g=164) "group". The grouprider site does require a simple registration, well worth it if you have yet to check it out.
• The new venue for this years event offers more in house amenities than have been available in previous years. Those who might seek to have a more rounded vacation experience may do so, and it’s very child friendly as well. They have even agreed to install cave man TV just for us!

Lodging:
Kancamagus Motor Lodge
Kancamagus Highway - Route 112
PO Box 505 - Lincoln, New Hampshire 03251
:call: Tel. 603-745-3365 Toll Free 1-800-346-4205 (outside NH)
Our hosts, Leo & Nicole Marien
From the south - I 93 Exit 32, left (East) off the exit onto Route 112 (Kancamagus Highway), 1.5 miles on the left.

Rooms:
Guests will call and make their own room reservations and guarantee the reservations to their own credit cards.
Thursday Sept 6th early bird (biker) special for those who can make it - $69+tax
Friday & Saturday nights, Sept 7th & 8th - $79+tax per night

There are a total of 24 rooms blocked out right now; 15 Rooms with 2 double beds, and 9 Rooms with 1 queen bed. ***If you’re riding solo please plan to split a room with two beds and save the singles for the couples… I expect that we’ll need all the capacity we can get.

Meals:
Saturday, Sept 8 “Group Dinner” is in the works.... should have it nailed down by the end of July. I'm working on an alternative to the original idea that should fit everyones interests better... working on a :pig1: roast... so get any tasteless Harley jokes you have to share outta your system now

There is a “meal plan” that includes your choice of any items on the menu (attached at bottom of post) for breakfast & Dinner, for a flat rate of $30 per person/day, which looks to me like a pretty decent deal. There are also several eateries in the area worth investigating… fielders’ choice. I like riding to breakfast…

In addition to the amenities listed on their web site, they will be making some special provisions for our group including a specially installed cave man TV :cf1: ; and a bike cleaning station set up complete with hoses, rags & kick stand rests (Leo and Nicole ride too...)

:tent6:
For those who would like a more wholesome Northern New England experience, there is a White Mtn. camp ground just a few miles east of town on rte 112 along the river, it's a great spot. If your thinking about this option, be prepared to stay warm. I looked at weather.com today to get "average" temps for that time of year, and the information they had was very optimistic IMO. Average lows in the mid 40's? Maybe... but be prepared for the possibility of evening lows in the 20's & 30's too... welcome to the Whites!

Stuff:
Dave has some things up his sleeve for prizes, and a promo package for area business that folks can make use of, I'll get that info up here in detail as it develops. With some luck we'll also have a pile of NewEnough gift certs again this year.

Historic Threads on Previous Events:
'05 NHfcSTOC (NNESTOC I)
'06 NNESTOC II - Unfortunately this thread is no longer complete as a result of a server crash... if folks who were there would like to repost photos and such of the event that would be awesome... really awesome!

:1st: Thanks to all the great folks who have attended, the last two years have kicked:butt1: and hose were just practice ya'll... this round is going to a new level and I'm really looking forward to sharing it with everyone! Rubber down, see ya in September :clap2: :headbang: :capwin: :hat1:

This post will be a running list of attendees... I don't know how right this is, and I don't know who's bunking up, or registered for the Sat night dinner gig... please post so I can get a handle on it :D I know that as of today, there are 11 of 24 rooms taken, and 16 for dinner.

*** Please remember to call and register for dinner Sat. night if you're not staying at the KML, or if yuor bunking with someone and they made the room reservation... they probably didn't pay for your dinner!

Yeah, GRN, I'm booked at the Lodge and for the dinner.

Small correction to the specs on your list above: I'll be on my '05 ST1300/A rather than my former ST1100 (RIP) that is (was?) shown in my avatar.

See ya there, if not sooner at NESTOC in June!

Hey, glad ya'll are going to make it. We have the Rest. at the lodge where we are staying reserved for a really nice top shelf buffet, but they want folks to make reservations and deposits to get a committed head count.

Hey, Bob. Glad to hear you and your wife will be joining us in September. I couldn't help but get a little nostalgic when I read that you would be riding matching red ST11s. It reminded me of one of the first NESTOC gatherings I attended when my '91 ST11 was still new. That year (probbaly about 15 years ago) the base of operations was a motel on Rte 4 near Killington, VT. Maybe a few readers will remember it. But I'm reminded of it because that year there were also two red ST11s ridden by a husband and wife couple, from Indiana.

Unfortunately, it was not a great weekend for them, as the wife took an App Gap switchback a bit too wide and crashed. She was not badly hurt, but I believe the bike was not really rideable as a result. Still, I recall admiring the woman's spunk and the way she took the whole nasty experience "like a man," so to speak.

Hope that such nostagia doesn't jinx anything for any NNESTOC riders; guess it should be taken as just a little reminder that the App Gap can be challenging, given the intensity of its curves in contrast with most of the semi-squidlies in those parts.

See you in September.

I promised myself I'd go to NeSTOC this year but that didn't work out. Now I'm thinking about NNeSTOC (again if work will cooperate). I've got a couple of questions.

1. Being that this will be during a holiday week (Labor Day), how bad will the traffic be in that area? Will the traffic be back to normal since it will actually be a couple of days after the holiday?

2. Same question as above for the Adirondacks area as I will be taking the scenic route through there to get to Lincoln, NH.

H20SKIER
07-01-2007, 06:39 AM
Isn't the Holiday the weekend before? if so there should be very little traffic. If it is in fact the Holiday weekend, we will have lots of traffic!!

Isn't the Holiday the weekend before? if so there should be very little traffic. If it is in fact the Holiday weekend, we will have lots of traffic!!

I was talking about during the week rather than the weekend. Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 3rd. NNeSTOC begins the following Thursday the 6th. Lots of folks (myself included), will be taking vacation that week to take advantage of the "free" Monday, giving them a full week of vacation.

Labor day itself will probably find me arriving in Cobleskil, NY. I'd like to explore that area Monday and Tuesday then head off through the Adirondacks on my way to Lincoln, NH. Again, not being from the Northeast I have no idea what the traffic may be like and thus the reason for my questions.

If the tourista traffic is going to be a problem I might just postpone this by a week. I'd hate to do this because I'd miss the gathering. I may miss it anyway because I've yet to make a reservation at the event motel. I'm going to try and decide this week whether or not I'm going to go.

I've ridden all over the American West and a little throughout the South but have never done so in the Northeast so it's something I'm looking forward to doing. Another reason I'm looking forward to it is that I have old service buddy that lives in Boston that I haven't seen in almost 35 years that I plan to visit. If work, weather and especially traffic will cooperate, it should be a very enjoyable trip.

GRN
07-01-2007, 06:19 PM
Week after Labor Day is pretty quiet up here... prime time for riding after the kids go to school and before the leaf peepers show up. Labor Day Weekend in the Catskills will be busy, but not so much so as to turn you away.

Alright...... first post fixed, second post updated with some new atendees, please shout if your coming and I don't have you on that list... meeting with some folks next weekend to get the Sat nite dinner thing nailed down... have a few things working, the pig roast option being my favorite at the moment.

If you have paid for the previous Sat Nite dinner plan, that amount will be applied to your room if we end up using an outside vendor and not the lodge rest. to cater that meal, seems pointless to make the lodge refund that, agreed?

Thanks Greg. With all these rides coming up, I guess it is just the next ride that will be getting all the attention. I'm still planning to come up early and spend the week before in NH. But now Mary and I will be making a trip to Chicago (driving) to move my daughter in to start grad school last week of August. It looks like there are a lot of miles in my future.

I met with Nicole and Leo on Sunday at the Kanc. Motor Lodge... real nice folks, and an even better facility for this event than I knew. Indoor pool is real nice, there is an arcade, the pub and the restaurant are awesome... the restaurant has won the regional "best of" 7 of the last 10 years. The Common Man Restaurant is next door for some variety (a personal favorite), and we're in walking distance to a ton of shopping, food, movies... whatever folks want to do.

Saturday Night Dinner......... We have abandoned the high end buffet idea, and after looking into the pig roast idea and all of the logistics involved in that, we're likely to be better off just blocking out a big chunk of the dining room and ordering from the menu... I've got my own vote for keeping it simple as long as that's good with everyone else. If you paid for the buffet and have a room, it is being applied to your balance. If you paid for the buffet and aren't staying at the lodge, you will get refunded.

I read a letter they had gotten from a GW chapter who just had an event there, and they were very happy with the whole experience. They do a lot of bike groups so they have it down pretty well... two washing stations, plenty of towels, and free (nice) kick stand plates. We're going to have a great time!

Who else is headed in Wed. night?

Big Al

Keep it simple I say. Just the fact there's a restaurant/pub at the lodge is all we need. If we want to throw a party, We could just get a bunch of pizza's and beer, like we did last year. There's 2 Pizza/sub shops within waking distance from the hotel.

I'll be be arriving on Thursday afternoon.

PS.. I have a friend who'd like to go on this trip. He just registered on this site "01cbr929rr". Is there anyone looking to share a room? I've already promised to share mine with Brian (Northeast Rider).

We have made some changes in the Saturday night Dinner plan, and I want everyone to be clear because some folks weren't all that wild with the original plan and have yet to make reservations because of it. Not to blame anyone, my fault entirely, bad plan.

The $40/ head super dooper pooper buffet plan IS NO MORE....

We are going to have several large tables reserved, ordering from the regular menu, 1 check per table with gratuity added to split. I believe this keeps it as simple as possible for everyone.

The KML would like to have all of the reservations, dinner and rooms, by Aug 8 so they can plan staffing, etc., accordingly. We all realize some folks may not be able to commit until last minute... no problem, but if you know your coming, please pick up the phone and get it done. They will release any open rooms/seats to the general public after Aug. 8. It's not a super busy time, so I don't think it will close up fast, but what do I know.

Tel. 603-745-3365
Toll Free 1-800-346-4205 (outside NH)

Next year I see this event staying at the KML if everyone has as good of a time as I believe we will... it's a perfect venue. We may come up with weekend "packages" with options for 2 or 3 nights, and meals and stuff all built into one price to make life easy.... I took short cuts up front that are making for more work now for everyone... I won't do that again, I promise!

There are no "set" groups, I'm encouraging folks to use the "Routes..." thread over there to get some conversation going and somes groups formed. Bob, with your experience you will be a great group leader, pick a route, post a plan and invite folks to join you!

The goal is to keep the groups small, with similar interests and pace. Folks who will be up for a few days will have a chance to ride with lots of different folks, different rides... I'm planning on doing two full day rides, and two half day rides just so I can mix it up and ride with a bunch of different folks over the course of the long weekend.

One thing I forgot... reservations made after Aug. 8 will be at normal rack rates, not at the group discounted rate.

At this time, Mick coming about 2K miles (assuming most direct route) has the long distance award easily in hand. Then of course, I have no idea where Motomac is heading in from, and I recall a note from a Cali member earlier this year flirting with the idea...

Where's Charlie? He's always good for a run from Dallas, vie Seattle... what a nut :D

There have been a bunch of new reservations at the lodge... if you're coming please let me know too.

I need some folks to start talking about the routes that interest them so we can get some small groups self congealing.

As a matter of fact, Ken(STKenny) and I have had this NNeSTOC trip planned for a while now. He and I have put a lot of miles in together over the last several years. Here's a cool picture of Ken in Utah:

http://www.hal-pc.org/~mmcham/ut_hwy21_mirror.jpg

He's the spec in my rear view mirror. If anyone is bored this weekend and wants to read the entire account of that trip, here's the article:

By the way, we would sure appreciate it if you guys could arrange for some dry, sunny weather to greet us in New England. We've had nothing but showers and thunderstorms down here for the last 3 months! I think even the ducks and mosquitos are tired of it.

We have a saying here about the weather... actually two if you listen to Bones (I don't)... welcome to New England, if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. We've had a real wet one here too, but ya'll are gettin' hammered.

So Mick, since your perspective on the roads up this way is fresher than most, pick a few routes and post some ideas about what kind of riding you want to do up here (on grouprider)... we can give you some ideas from there, and you might find some like souls to share some of those miles with :-)

That's a helluva nice ride ya'll did to WeSTOC... I didn't read the whole thing, but I did look throught all 14 days. Nice pics... I love the snake river... Sawtooths too. Nice ride.

I'll post some on group rider but what I see as interesting is the "Killer Views" Loop and the "Short West Loop".

Not sure when we'd squeeze in the time but I'd like to shoot over to Maine and get a picture of a nice scenic lighthouse. Any suggestions for one to see?

Mick,

Short west has some of my favorite turns... and killer views is a must do "gringo" ride ;)... weekdays best for the latter, and a clear day at that.
PM'd you some thoughts.

FOR EVERYONE...

all of the routes that have an eastern leg on Maine 113 from Fryburg up through Evans Notch will probably have some changes. Recent flash floods have damaged and even fully segmented some roads in that area... I'll be doing a long weekend of scouting up that way in a few weeks to check it out, will make needed changes and post updates as I get them done.

:wooHey man, put us on the confirmed list, I just scored a room for Dawn and I and we're signed up for the Sat. night Dinner :woo :mcrider:

We'll probably show up Thursday night after work late trailering her Ninja and the Bandit (absolutely no nude Gold Wing pulls will be performed).

Dawn just got her first solo ride of the season on her own bike in today. With her arthritis, she's just not in shape for regular length runs though (and depending upon her condition at the time may ride her own Ninja, or if not feeling up to it will ride two up with me).

She's gotta stop for a few minutes every hour also, so Her and I gotta do shorter easy going days. That being the case (and most folks being up for longer rides), we'll probably do 9AM leave, shorter runs of some type on our own, and meet up with everyone at day's end. That way we can gear our ride to how much endurance she has that particular day.

I'll go look at the routes you've posted up Greg , and see if you have any 150-180 mi. routes put up.

GRN

I just fixed the 'killer views loop', taking out the last loop north. Maine 113 is severed in Evans Notch, and it also appears that Bear Notch road has been severed just north of 112 by the Swift River... will have to look into that further as it's a far better way around North Conway.

Carl_T
07-29-2007, 09:53 PM
Yeah I was bumming all year figuring I'd miss this one, glad it worked out different.:)

I'm guessing we'll want to keep both our runs down around 175 mi. or some bit less, with small breaks somewhere about on the hour. If Dawn is riding her bike pace will be real easy going, If she's hopping on the Bandit two up instead, pace can be anything others want from gentle cruise to white hot sizzle through the corners (I almost never run straights faster than 10mph over max. though unless passing [GPS 10 over that is], more normally 5 over). Left to myself pace would be medium with her on the back.

Me, I'm hoping she feels well enough to ride herself. Nothing wrong with an easy going ride in the White Mountains as far as I'm concerned.

I'll post up which rides we settle on real soon, and anyone who is OK with her pace and number of stops is completely welcome to come along up to a max of 8 bikes including us. If no one really wants to chill back that much, that's OK too, it's all good and we'll see everyone when the rides done.

Anyone gets interested just PM me on this site.

Is the road paved all the way up to the end on Mt. Washington now?

Man you guys must have gotten it rain wise up there. I just looked at the Castle in the Clouds website, and I'm thinking that's something I'd sooner come up and take a day to do in the fall one of these years when they have the plein air painting, art stuff going on, and fall colors. I'd rather have time to hike around, see the waterfalls etc. a day trip type of thing, rather than a quick peek at it during the STOC on the run. Think I'll pass on it.

I'm gonna poke 'round a bit more trying to figure what route I want to do when, probably make a hybrid for one of the days. Let me know what's closed north, Can you go up past Washington along the river, double back and go East on 2? you'll probably know more after the pre-ride huh?

GRN

N on 16 to 2 then west and back down no problem... not the greatest though either... more inclined to come back down to 302 W and ride the notch on that side of the presidentials.

Castle in the clouds for fall color, weekday is a must ... yeah, at least a whole day, just getting a parking space... you'll spend a lot of your day just waiting, you have to take the trolly to the main site, lines will be... I wouldn't include any significant travel that day. The falls is a 5 min dead end hike from the road on the way to the big parking area. It's not spectacular... just kinda cool.

Actually I was thinking up past Washington along the river (I liked the winding road along it a lot in 2005 and figured to stop on the River to look around this time) up to Errol, down 26 over the notch to Bethel and over 2. However I see it's still a couple hundred miles. Everything over that way is a couple hundred instead of 170. Still messing with possibilities though. The short West loop still is looking good for one of the days.

Since it's kind of looking like we won't get to ride together during NNESTOC I'm still looking at finding a way to sneak in the pre-ride with you. Thing is I'm taking a day for the National Gallery in Washington this week and getting Fri. would be tough at work. STill working on it.

Even that way shortened is over a couple hundred Al. Looks like Errol is too long a bite no matter how I cut it, even backtracking.

I'm gonna look East a bit too, anyone been on rt. 2 to ME? decent? It's along a river, sort of anyway, not to sure about it though.

I admit I exaggerated a little. However, I just confirmed it with my Garmin's NT Navigator and Mapsource software that its a dirt road. MSN's Local-Live satelite maps make it, at best, questionable. I'd have to wait until I get home to re-check Google maps. It's blocked where I work.
That streach could be paved now though. Satelite photos are usually no newer than 3 yrs. My Garmin software could also be wrong. I was hoping Greg has been there and was certain about it.

I've been on rt2 to ME. Anywhere on 2 East of Dixfield isn't worth $hit. - There's a nice little segment of road opposite of the river from rt2 between Dixfield and Bethel. Very scenic.

So far it looks like Dawn and I will hook up with you Greg if you stick with doing the killer views ride one of the days. Heavy rain could alter that plan I would think no? If it rains that day she's staying in and I'd ride anything you're in the mood for at that point.

Whatever day you're not doing the Killer Views ride, we will be doing the short Western loop with the twisties. We're adding a few miles to bump it to 159mi. for good or ill.

We'll likely do it kickstands up 9AM, easy going hourly rest stops. Probably be done around 4PM or so. If the weather is particularly cold we'll bump it to 10AM-5PM. It'll be a laid back day for us.

Anybody wants to take it easy and join in is welcome, up to about 6 other bikes max. PM me if interested. Dawn will be riding her own bike on this one.

Sounds good bro, "killer views" is plan A for Friday for us. I'm thinking Billy and the boys from the Lone Star Republic may want to Join... maybe Todd and Nelson too, should be pretty laid back. I would like to stay to 8 bikes max. If weather and visibility at altitude are limiting, I'll probably do an improvised figure 8 that will be the short west and short south combined.

It's probably easier to keep all the group ride conversations in one place, and most of that is happening on the grouprider site, in the route specific threads. You should post your plan for 'short west' there.

I posted it up on Group Rider Greg. Anyone interested can PM me there as well.

Doing Killer views with you Fri. and Saturday a laid back easy going paced short-West twisty run. A change is we will run it at regular length instead of adding to it, with possibility (time permitting) of running the Kanc to Whitehorse gear after the run is over.

Bones, just thinking looking around Castle in the Clouds and Climbing Mt. Washington in the rain/fog would be less that fun to do. Then it would be game on for another route. After the Monsoons we've ridden in I figure few riders would stay inside due to weather.

That being the case, I figure I successfully dodged the need to put on a pig roast, :pig1: yet one more time :D

Steve, if your up for a lead, and the west loop looks good, it could use a kick in the seat. Or, Al's leading a ride on the two rivers loop (same route we did in '05), and I'm going to lead a group on the Tri-state loop. I may also come up with something awesome for the east loop, but that's yet to get discovered. West loop can make for a nice easy mid day run, lunch over the river in Fairlee.

Mabye we could pre-order some sandwiches/subs and bring them to the top of Mt Washington.

Top of Mt. Wash can be a bit hostile for a picnic man; strong winds and temps likely 20 degrees colder than in the valley... and it'll be a pretty late lunch.

Whitehorse is game to us having lunch there, we preorder/pay, they will pick up and have ready for us when we roll in. Can be anything, pizza, deli, whatever.

you might have limited interest in that route from folks who did this event in '05... that was the route we did, one BIG, and very fast, happy group :-)

Big Al
08-01-2007, 12:30 PM
Yes, It looks that way.
I'm just throwing it out there to see if there are any takers. Too bad too. 102 and 135 are a couple of my favorite roads to ride.
It may be that, people are more interested in the rides that everyone else is riding on. If thats the case, we'll have to split into groups anyway just to keep the #'s down.

I'll keep the plan open. If there's no takers. I'll do something else.

GRN
08-01-2007, 01:08 PM
Al,

That's a great route, and there are plenty of folks coming who weren't in that maiden ride of 11 or 12 bikes in '05... it's a great slightly shorter alternative to the other long routes that focus on Maine and Vermont, you'll get interest.

Likely candidates:

Todd & his daughter
Nelson & his daughter
Chris & Sam
Briane Carne

More I'm not thinking of at the moment... send out invites through grouprider and make folks aware... they'll come.

Del, that's all pretty wide open riding, no reason you can't average 50+ mph in the saddle... big variable is your time out of the saddle at customs, could be 3 minutes, could be 30 minutes, could be ....

To be safe, I would give myself 3 hrs in the saddle, 30 minutes for the border, and add 30 minutes if the weather isn't perfect... but then again, I'm almost always way early for everything ;).

We'll see how things fall, come do the castle and lunch with us, and we'll play it by ear. You may need to expedite lunch and leave ahead of us to summit Mt. Washington.

Del

Most certainly I will be there for lunch, however you are right about the border. My wife waited 2 hours on a recent Friday afternoon going north on 87 to Montreal. I am hoping to cross at one of those little forlorn spots, maybe even wake the border guard up from his afternoon siesta.

Made it home about 5:45 last. Total miles about 900.

Saturday's ride was the best. Sunday was a little hot and there was noticeably more RV traffic. - My favorite roads were 16, 17, 26, 35, 146 and we can't forget "Katie's Crotch Rd" which unfortunately, we don't have a road sign picture of because the town locals tell us they can't seem to keep that street sign from getting stolen. :( (Hmm.. I can't imagine why ) - The cabins (http://www.sevenfallscabins.com), where we stayed were clean and cozy. We had the whole camp to ourselves. Saturday night, the evening temperature was just cool enough to really enjoy warming up next to the :cf1: campfire, with a local brew called Carrabassett Ale. :beer3: (Mmm good stuff) Which, buy the way, we had purchased at a store next to the Carrabassett river and drank at a camp on the Carrabassett river..... I don't believe I heard a single auto drive by on the road next to the camp that night and you could see the milky way in the sky.

Most of all I had fun riding with my fellow brothers. Each of us on a mission of exploration, with our bright yellow lids, searching out for the best sweepers, twisties and scenery, sampling the local cuisine and on the lookout for wildlife. It just doesn't get any better than that. :)

PS.. I recorded a track log on my Garmin of the entire weekend's trip, if anyone is interested in seeing a record of the roads we traveled.

Also, I'll post some pictures later this evening. :)

There are discussions there that have folks grouping up for different rides on different days. The time and date info in the "ride" specs are just there because the site makes you put something, but those don't suggest anything real.

I have a nice lunch plan for the folks who are doing the 'Killer Views Loop' mongo big azz group ride led by Bob an me Friday Sept 7... here's the plan:

1. check out the attached menu
2. Call in your order, NO LATER THAN Tuesday Sept 4, pay by CC and make sure to specify that you are with the NNESTOC group on Sept 7... don't forget beverages and such.
3. Uh, there is no 3... see how easy that was! :D

Whitehorse will be picking up our collective order and have it waiting for us when we get there. If we have lousy weather and decide to take alt. routes that day, we can leave this plan in place as a way to get everyone together for a little interaction and check out some gear while they're open (not open on the weekend). If on Thursday it looks like Friday will be a wash due to really poor weather conditions, I'll scrub it, everyone will get refunded, and we're all on our own Friday.

Good enough?

Welcome on and introduce yourself a bit, man... are you a friend of Big Al? Looks like your riding a brand new Ninja 250, sweet starter bike, I put more miles on my wife's than she did, that thing was a hoot!

It's important that you choose your rides carefully, quite a few of these may exceed the limits of you and your bike due to the range and pace that many of the more experienced riders will keep. Have you taken the BRC? Have you been on previous group rides before? Tell me more about your experience either in this thread or through a private message so that we can best include you in this really great weekend in a way that works well for all.

Steve, It's been cool up here as well the last couple of days and there is a bit of rain in the forecast for the next five. Sam and I are really getting primed for NNESTOC now. Still can't believe OnSTOC is all over until next year.
See you guys in a couple of weeks.

Chris, they go way too fast... that's why I extended ours a day, I couldn't deal with it starting to wind down just as it got wound up!

Weather here... f'n cold man, been 40-42 every morning for the ride in with highs making it to 70 if we're lucky, almost ready to light a small fire at night just to take the edge off. Forecast is for a warming trend and some rain, just hope it gets all the rain out of its system prior to OUR weekend... shut up Bones ;).

I'm already thinking about alternatives to the Friday plan... was up on Mt. Washington last weekend, would not have been an option on bikes... this time of year we have about a 1 in 4 shot of getting the right day to ride up... Castle in the clouds will still be OK unless clouds are real low and it's raining with any fortitude. One option will be to do a loop north past Mt. Washington, Whitehorse for lunch, Then to CITC... if it's gonna pour, we can collectively decide what we want to do about lunch at Whitehorse and plan a ride around it on the fly. But, it's not gonna rain... :clap2:

Brian, Brian, Brian, Brian,

Tell them you no can do the work
Being in the family business has to have SOME kind of perk
Ask your Bro to take up the slack
It'll only be a few days and you'll be back
Say you need to get your hands out of the suds
and go riding for a bit with your Buds
Tell them it's simple to deduce
a HAPPIER Brian will really produce.

I'm gonna let the weather dictate my bike choice for the event. The ST was made for long distance riding and if you throw in questionable precip, there is nothing better except maybe that PU truck you'll be towing with.
Brian, I'm on your side. You have duties and obligations which tie us all down. We just have a little more flexibility this time of year than you do. Try to work out a deal. I hear money and physical favors can work wonders.

Hi Gang!!
Sorry to deviate from your somewhat deviate Georgia Silver [tape] exchange, but here are some things regarding NNE you'd like to know,,make note,,,

Frannies ,,,,Thornton Rt 3 so. from Woodstock.....House Pizza and burgers

Windy Ridge Farms,,,Rt 116 so. Haverhill off 112 w from Woodstock....Kicked back on the porch farmers b'fst,,,,yellow crisp apples [you'll come back for more, promise], and Apple bbq sauce,,,trust me, buy one and suffer when it runs out.

Imperial Oriental,,,at the lights in No. Woodstock, super menu, exceptional
quality

Craftsbury General Store,,,off VT rt14, super sammies, dangle your legs off the farmers porch and watch VT. go by

JT's,,, Rt2e Gorham NH , all homemade product, family run

Fresh Start,,,Rt302 e on left 5-8 miles past Bear Notch rd. as you approach 16, about 1 hr from Lincoln. Good b'fsts,,quick.

Walters @ The Squam rt3 bridge Holderness,,, a good stop after a loop to the Weirds [Weirs] Caution on the local "blues"

Red Fox B'fst buffet [sundays], rt 16n Jackson, on way to Pinkham Notch,
live jazz, all you can eat 8 bucks. A good last meal as you scare the heck out of yourself on the Wildcat Zip Line....

And last but not least The Kank Motor Lodge [home base] ,,,rarely equalled, and never surpassed.

Have a great time, I'll catch up with you folks fri eve.
Don't hesitate to ask for info on roads, rides, eats, and places of intrest.

Grouprider routes have been fixed so the turn by turn info is now included. It was a glitch with the sites interface to google... then I had to update all rides that were done while that glitch was present, now that it is no longer... with the exception of 'killer views' as I will be reworking it and an alt with an extended northern loop in case the Mt. Wash. auto road is a no go.
