Just wanted to drop a note to you guys and gals leaving tomorrow and Friday for DesertSTOC! This is one of those times when you wish you had a clone! I really wanted to go with you guys! The ride in will be fun! Hanging with the rest of the ST'ers will be cool! You guys are going to have a great time! Please ride safe and think of me when you're popping back a wet one!:)

As for me; the wife (Terri) and I are getting ready to go desert camping near the Colorado River in a place called Ashley Flats that can be reached by some long desert dirt roads/tracks. A great desolated place with no one around! So I'll be able to get some naked time in, as long as the wife don't barf! Ashley Flats is also a great place to find semi-precious gem-stones like Fire-Agates, Geodes, and stuff like that. And the photography can be sublime (see below). I'm also going to some nature video for the first time! Ashley Flats is one of our very favorite camping places. Terri and I haven't spent a lot of lone-time lately together so we decided, with heavy heart, to do this instead of joining you guys. ...sniff-sniff... :)

You and Terri have a good time with your rock hound activity, hope you find some good ones. I'll get pictures of DesertSTOC, you get pictures of your camp site and find some pretty rocks.

I don't think I ever told you but I use to spend a lot of time in the desert of Nevada hunting for rocks with my father who was an avid rock hound himself. We found some nice rocks and a few arrow heads, always fun.

We have a lot in common. I also grew up with a desert/nature loving family. Rock hounding is in our blood! "Waa-hoo! Look at this one!" "Which one?" "This one I just found!" "Hmmm... it's Ok..." Bubble popped. LOL! Lot's of fun. Especially sitting around the campfires.

You guys will have, what sounds like, a pretty nice motel with center shared court! I was looking forward to that part. Sitting around and BS'ing. LOL.

You have a great time Dana and Vicki! Take lots of snaps! And tell Vicki to slap your helmet when you start speeding in the twisties! You fiend, you! "I'm goin' show ya Fred what a 700 pound bike can do! Even with two-up!" :biker: LOL. Ride safe buddy and talked to ya when you get back!

Not a lot of riding; but, it would --- wait for it --- rock!...

I grew up rockhounding or just desert walking...
I've found some outstanding examples of leaverite.

You have seen leaverite haven't you?
You know you've found a piece when one of the old hounds looks over at what you're pointing to and says "yup, a great sample of leaverite; so, leave-er-right there." :-)

Now I'm going to have to find Ashley Flats...
