I believe this was lost during the crash, and I thought some of you might find it interesting:

Bygdawg,
I must have missed the original post. Boy, am I glad you reposted it!
Part of my USAF job many many years ago was survival instructor so I was never big into camping. Now, my wife and 12 year old son are wanting to try it. If they want to eat bugs, trap iguanas, and live off the land then I'm their man. Otherwise, tents, sleeping bags, etc. are new to me. We've just started putting some equipment together and, by natural extension, I see the Missus and myself doing some two wheeled camping in the future.
Great timing...
And thanks again,

That's great. I camp some, but am mostly a cabin guy. I don't mind if it's a rustic cabin with nothing but a bed to throw my sleeping bag on, but I'm not much of a tent guy. I like to be able to just walk in and toss down the bag in a dry area, especially if I'm arriving at night when the dew has already fallen. I'm not fond of trying to setup a tent in dark and wet conditions. LOL Here is a little place we stayed at during the COG Rally in Hiawassee, Georgia. It was roughing it enough for me, no heat, no ac, just a bed, a small porch, a few windows and a door.

I upgraded to heat, air, chair, and small table while in Eureka Springs:

Now that's the way to rough it! Me like!
My wife is from the Philippines and they don't seem to understand camping, at least in her neck of the woods. She's intrigued by the fact that people will voluntarily give up the TV and the a/c and go sleep in a tent. I'm trying not to invest a lot (yet) until I find out how she and my son take to it.

Well...Those places didn't have a T.V. in them and the showers weren't located inside the cabin, but they did provide good protection and a few benefits for not much more than a camping site.

It's crude but I put this together in a PDF and Word 2003 doc. Good stuff.

I think the sites database is corrupting files that are uploaded.
Here they are on my site:

camping101.pdf (http://www.hard-core-ware.com/files/camping101.pdf)

I find that a clear sky, a good bottle of brandy, and a warm sleeping bag are the only things essential to life as we know it (well, maybe Charmin).
All will fit easily on an ST.
Maybe an ST is also a necessity.

+1 on the Charmin. Great job crazykz. Thanks for making things easier to read.

I mentioned to MotoMac the other night (after he fixed dinner over charcoal fire) that I'm not a camper, just a tent-sleeper.
Time for a new STOC thread (and possible t-shirt):
