I got back earlier today. It was great meeting new, and old, faces.

RAVEN!!!!! Wow, talk about a great event and organized quite well. Not to mention a great MSF instructor, thanks for helping me learn how to go in circles. I think I'm going to do the basic then ERC courses this year.

Hogslayer's wife, Debbie, tripped and fell in the parking lot at the hotel and hit her head, I haven't heard anything about her other than a trip to the ER for some stitches, I hope she is feeling better and healing well.

Here are my pics, ride report will follow later:

Nice Pictures. Sitting here in SW Wisconsin with 10+ inches of new snow makes these even nicer. Use to live in AZ for 2 years. Never got to the southern area, but enjoyed the Prescott area for those 2 years.

Boy, that campground was in a nice location. The desert is looking especially beautiful this time of year. Good pics! Looks like a great trip.

Here's a couple of Bisbee photos from Saturday morning.

BTW, the temperature in Tucson when we left was 32° and it was about the same an hour and a half later in Bisbee. Somehow, none of bikes at DesertSTOC seemed to be ones with the heat issue 'cause I was sure looking for one of those to try out and so was everyone else!

I also tried to get a couple minutes of video on the ride down - I'll see if any of it came out and work on getting it loaded as well.

Very awesome event! Big thanks to Raven others for making this event happen. From the Thursday night BBQ. to the Saturday night Steak House Dinner we managed to eat real well, morning & night. The rides took us up to the southern most ski resort at well over 8000 ft & down to a little lake right on the Mexican border, very cool!! Like Joe, I too learned out to ride in little circles... But, no one RAN the cone course like Joe did!!

Big Thanks again, to the folks that put all this together.

My camera isn't a video camera, but I did shoot a clip of that. I'll have to send it to Fred and let him post it since I don't have a clue how to do it. I didn't get it from beginning to end since I was caught off guard. Who would have thought that some one would RUN the course?

Well,,, I didn't make the DesertSToc,,, sorry... There was a group flying out Saturday from Tucson to Dallas from the Mexico Mission/Orphanage trip and,,, they left 1 hour late but THOUGHT,,, they made it to Dallas ok...

Wrong...

They,,, FLEW to Dallas,,, and then had to return because of High winds and blowing dust... Flight was canceled for them,,, and they don't return till late Monday...

So,,, I had to hassle to get them rooms,,, Hauled to motel,,, checked in,,, and then haul them around to eat Saturday and Saturday night and missed my shot at meeting up...

Left Raven a voice mail when I was at the Airport yesterday letting him know what happened to me... Man,,, I was really wanting to pop in and say hi to everyone... :(

Thanks for the pictures!!!

Great pics guys! Looks like you all had a great time! Raven really pulled together a STOC to remember! Kudos! Sorry to hear about "Rhonda" Debbie. Get well soon!

The ride up to Kitt's peak looks really cool! AND COLD! LOL. Great views! Joe's pics of the desert campground looks like something I would love to photograph. His campsite looked very lonely. LOL. Anybody video his "Mellow Dance"? I hope so! Great pics!

Fred

It wasn't that bad. From the desert floor and 50f it's only 12 miles to the top, and by the time we went down, it was nice. It's a good enough road that I didn't waste much time thinking about the temps:)

Two more from Kitt Peak. First from the top, the other Friday on the way in. I took a picture of a rainbow before I got wet.

Okay, it's not great since it was recorded on a small Nikon Coolpix L2 and half the time I couldn't tell if I'd pressed the record button or not so I have a lot of video of my lap and not much of the road. Plus there was the added bonus of it being danged cold. Unfortunately not any twisties to avoid one handed riding (I had a camera mount on my old cruiser but haven't set anything up on the ST yet).

Anyway, I did manage to put together about a minute's worth of passable video with the old stand-by generic soundtrack.

Okay, here's a few more pics from DesertSTOC. You put the names to the faces at Saturday night dinner.

Had a great time on Sunday riding the 500++ miles from Tucson to Kingman via Gila Bend, Salome, Parker, and Lake Havasu. Good cherry turnover at the convenience store in Salome (MY! Isn't this convenient!? ;^)

Thanks to Don and Chris and Joe for letting me tag along.

The Observatory pics are from the top of Kitts Peak. Gotta say that the ride up and back was prolly the hi-lite of the riding weekend. As always, meeting and greeting all the folks was tops on the liST! Sorry I missed Mark Belefuille, had a good time with MotoMac and Mellow on Friday night, and thanks to Mac for dinner on Saturday. Except for the burned biscuits, it was great. ;^)

Good to see many old friends. Should'a made more time for Whit but we were both out riding. ;^) Good to see Howard and other old friends and to make new ones.

Raven did a good job setting up the event _and_ the obstacle course. Fun!

Folks, keep Mac in your thoughts as he's trying to get back to N.E. OH during the current winter storms. He's smart enuff, tho, to stop if he has to.

Sorry, didn't get any shots of _me_ winning the obstacle course. ;^)

OK, I'm back. Got home this morning at 9:00 AM. Raven, what a super event you put together and even managed to get out and ride some. Though I haven't been to a lot of ST events, this one was the best attended and the best planned one. I think George and I accounted for at least 36 attendees. Glad to meet all the Southern Cal and AZ folks. Hope someone posts about Debbie's condition. What a tough break that was and she wasn't even on a motorcycle. If she had of she wouldn't have got hurt, cause she would have had her gear on.

Hey George -

You _were_ awesome on the obstacle course! I know that Dana (dteel) got a couple of really great shots of you with cones all about and dragging pegs so hopefully those pictures will get loaded in soon (hint, hint Dana - I know they're already in your computer!).

BTW, here's a copy of the obstacle course layout that can easily be set-up using an MSF range.

Raven, I'm not ignoring you. I really was just waiting for the migration to the new server. I'm a bit confused if the pictures are being corrupted during the upload or download, but I hate having to do things twice. I was just going to wait until the new server was up and running and then post my pictures in the member gallery. Have you noticed that the gallery isn't there any more?

I don’t' have an off site location to post, so I was just waiting patiently. If you have a better solution, I'm open to suggestion.

Dana,

I've noticed the same "corruption" issue with uploading jpg files. What I have noticed is that if you change the extension to jpeg, the file will open with no issues.

Thx

George

Shane, thanks for tip about the jpeg extension. I'm having the same corruption issue.

Dana, you can upload to free accounts at many sites, then just post the link here. I'm using webshots.com. Don't know what their free limit is, but I haven't reached it yet.

Mac,
They were headed up to Salt Lake to visit family. I believe they are targeting the end of March or beginning of April to be back home.
They are keeping the ST in an enclosed trailer for the trip.

I think John Karo was also telling them about the Texas Hill Country so looks like they are on the road for a while.

I can't believe how much stuff I FORGOT to bring with me on this camping trip. I was so relieved to be able to get out of the driveway, I forgot a bunch of stuff including to lock the Unigo lid!!! Consequently I had charcoal dust all over every thing in the trailer from the open bag of charcoal I brought. And now that the cat's out of the bag I guess Joe will add the rest of the Stuff I didn't bring or do.
