That cone course looks hard! It ain't fair to make a man run around some cones, hop on a bike and then drive around in a circle! :hyp1:

Joe,

All true athletes run the event mentally before hand. It looks like you're just adding another dimension to it. :)

I *really* wish I could have seen that run... :)

He was by far the best at cutting a close circle in the barrel roll. The rest of us took half the parking lot!

I was fortunate enough to be there for that epic run...

But it seems my memory must be going, too. I was pretty sure I remembered Joe running last and riding first:)

You're right Tom... I walked the course... then tried to ride it..(I obviously need more practice)... so, I figured I needed to at least complete it one way or another...

Nice job, Joe. Say, why was that lady LEO yelling at you? Was she after your phone number, or did she just want a ride to Dairy Queen?

I think she's actually trying to talk Joe into giving up!

Last summer, every Tuesday evening was spent RIDING courses like that. WHAT FUN! I can't imagine running it! The circles take practice but with some parkinglot time, you can do full lock turns without even thinking about it. I thought my 1100 was easier to ride til I rode STumpy's 1300 right before he traded it. It is easier to turn tight. The wing is VERY EASY to turn tight! The CG is so low, you don't even have to think tight turn and it is doing it. We also set up a keyhole. Enter and exit a circle at the same point. Usually around 20' diameter. We also did a weave with a straddle. Front tire goes on one side, rear goes on the other side. Takes some thinking, but not as hard as it sounds. Maybe if we get PorkSToc set up, we can do the same.

I thought the same thing! Who is that cop? It turned out to be Raven herself. And all this time I thought she was a dude! DOH! I'm stupid... again! LOL.

Speaking of COPs, only "raven" and I were there to witness Tony make the run on his Police Bike. Now that was a demonstration I won't soon forget. I think "raven" forgets also how close he cut each and every cone, cause Joe's run in some cases were several feet from Tony's line. WOW what a run, and noone timed him. Way to go Tony!!!!!

And don't forget... that was a bike right off the showroom floor so he rode it cold and even though we all know one ST13 is pretty much like the next, the mental aspect of 'thinking' it's a different bike would be hard for some of us to overcome.

Heck, my mental aspect of 'thinking' the Wing handles like a pig was hard for me to overcome... maybe someday... LOL

Believe me Joe, that Wing will do a 20' circle. It just takes a little practice. The guys who do Top Gun competition do 16' circles on 1500's and 1800's.

Hey, I'm close.. I was doing 160' circles.. just need to knock off that last zero...

Raven

Give Joe credit - he went from no circles at all to 26 foot circles and was really close to making 24's. Not bad for not usually practicing such things and not really being out there that long.

Unbelievable of a guy who can leave sport bikes in the dust in the twisties, has trouble with slow speed turns!!!!!! And I agree with you "raven", with more coaching and practice he will get there.

Mellow

Ah.. I don't think I've ever left a sport bike in the dust in the twisties.. thanks but let's not say things I can't back up.

I'd love to do the circles and course and scrap pegs the whole way through, that would be so cool.

The funny thing is when I first got the Wing I could turn tighter circles... just practice. I tried to get Tony to do the course on the Wing since he has both and ST and Wing but he didn't want to drop my bike... hey, that's what the crash bars are for.. besides, he was still on duty so I could get the dept to pay for some new ones.. he he he

You asked me to do the course on your Wing also and I turned you down for the same reason. I don't mind scratching chrome and paint on my own, but would never forgive myself to scratch someone elses.

Mellow

Yeah.. George asked if I wanted to try it on his ST1100 but I didn't see the point, you have to dance with the one that brought ya... or something like that..

Thanks Fred for splicing the two clips together. I'm sorry I missed the beginning of the run. I was a bit shocked at what I was seeing, then convinced it would only last for the first few cones, when I realized, Joe was actually planning on "Running" the entire course, it took me a few seconds to remember how to put my camera in video clip mode. LOL all the fumbling around and I missed 1/2 of the "Run".

When it was all said and done, I was glad that I got what I did. Impulsive acts like this is in part what make getting together with my ST friends so much fun. You just never know when someone is going to make your day!

Thanks Joe for the entertainment, BTW, I had a better time, but I decided to do in on my bike......

Oh, I would have ridden your wing though that course Joe, I'm not shy about such things and have a pretty good confidence in my own ability. Funny when you consider my tip over in the parking lot.

I wasn't going to say anything about that... I was thinking to myself though 'if there had been a little orange cone there, he would have made that turn'....
