I'm 5'9" and I can't decide which is safer, better, more comfortable at a stop, legs (calves) in front of the pegs, flipping the pegs up and being in line with pegs, behind pegs.....

You know, at 5'8" I've had the same dilema. . . .

I've gotten to where I tend to do left foot down with the bike slightly leaned. For really long lights I guess I find myself in line with the pegs with the pegs slightly pushed up (I know this b/c when I do it I find myself wondering if I look silly - not that any of the cages around would even notice). For whatever reason it feels awkward with my shins behind the pegs or the pegs behind my calves. Feels like my foot would get trapped if I happened to tip over. . . .

Left foot on the ground and right foot on the rear brake to keep the light on.

Ditto Mac & 2dogs; MSF instructor emphasized left foot down/ right foot on brake. I'm 5'9" and this eliminates problems with seat height. If the light is long I'll put both feet down after the vehicle behind me stops safely; it's also a good habit to get in to for stops on hills.

Left foot down at short stops right on brake. Right foot down on long stops when I knock it out of gear with front brake on for the stop light, left foot ready to put it back in gear.

With a 36" inseam, I don't have much choice... Legs in front of the pegs... Almost to the point where the tip-over covers are digging into my shins.... :D

Why is this a poll?

Left foot down at short stops right on brake. Right foot down on long stops when I knock it out of gear with front brake on for the stop light, left foot ready to put it back in gear.

Left foot down, right foot on the peg/brake... which doesn't answer the original question at all, not that it seems that most anyone else actually read it

As to the actual question, I've never really thought to notice... with a 28" inseam I guess the answer is in the straitest possible vertical line from my hip to the ground as possible, which probably means just behind the peg... which doesn't really seem to be a choice in the poll, or is that "between"?

Between riders and passengers peg's on same side.

I'm 6'2" with a 32 inseam and put my feet forward.

As for why is this a poll......why not?:D

I'm 5'8" but with a 33 inch inseam. So, long legs - short torso. I tend to sit pretty far forward on the seat and when I put both feet down my legs/calves are in front of the pegs.

I like the stability with both feet down and hold the hand brake.

Left foot on shifter, tranny in first gear, right foot on ground, right hand on brake lever, both eyes on rear view mirror, and a bug-out lane in case some cager decided to eat me for lunch.

Left foot on the ground and right foot on the rear brake, rear light on.

Should we add right hand on the front brake?? ;)
