On the right side of your battery there is an auxiliary electrical connection. It is rated at 5amps if I recall properly. It is also switched, so it is off when the ignition key is off. Good for preventing a dead battery.

If this is the only thing you wish to hook up, then you can hook up a cigarette lighter socket and then plug in the power cord of your detector. The positive is hooked up to the auxiliary wire and the negative to a frame ground.

If you want to power more items, I suggest you look up connecting an auxiliary fuse block and power relay.

There's lots of options. If you want to use the cigar lighter plug that came with the detector, you'll have to buy a socket - either an inline one you can wire in, or actually cut a hole and install the socket. The only advantage to using that socket is that the plug probably has the fuse for the detector built in.

You could go to radio-shack and (probably) buy a DC plug to fit, and wire it directly with an inline fuse.

You could install a Powerlet socket (more typical), and get a cigar lighter to Powerlet adapter, or you could fuse the Powerlet socket, and cut off the cigar lighter plug and put on a Powerlet plug. Just lots of ways to skin that cat - it depends if you want to move the detector between the bike and the car, and how much wiring and drilling you are comfortable doing.
