Some members have complained of various heat related issues with the ST. I have a suggestion (used on my seat) that may also have other applications on the Bike.

The basic product is a reflective aluminum foil that is adhered to a thin bubble pack plastic to give it some handling ability. The foil reflects 97% of radiant heat 180 degrees.

The sample product I got from www.videocomp.com/reflectech fits perfectly under the seat in the space between the front saddle mounts. This along with the foam strip Spencer sent me with my modified seat (highly recommend) seems to have stopped any heat from penetrating my seat to my seat.

You can also wrap your hot water heater in it to save energy or lay it on the floor to you attic and save heat in the winter
and cooling in the summer....it will pay for itself in a season or two. One of my friends wrapped his entire house in it..walls, floors, ceiling...makes your house a thermos bottle.

www.msrindustries.com also sells the stuff in 1000 sq ft rolls and may give you the brother-in-law discount if you tell him you heard it from Louis in Bham. This guy puts it in
flak jackets for the U.S. Military..keeps our boys more comfortable in the desert sun....

Mabe this will help and some of you "tinkerers" will find other ways to use it on the bikes....

Have Fun and Be Safe.....

I bought a reflective blanket (like what you are describing) at Home Depot to wrap my water heater. You just gave me a great idea!!!:)
