Has anyone done the regional SS1000 that MTF sponsors? I want to do the one on 4-28-07 that starts in Muncie, IN. Just curious how they are. It sounds like they do the hard part by having the witness' staged at the fuel stops which sounds good to me.:bow1:
Thanks for your comments,

I'm doing one sponsored by the Free Florida Bikers in a couple of weeks.
From what I've gleaned, they have witnesses at each of the mandatory stops to record data, collect receipts, and make sure you ride the route exactly as outlined. That would mean that at the end, if all the mandatory stops and conditions were met, you would have been automatically verified for the ride. They then issue the coveted IBA certificate. I'm not sure if the data goes to the IBA folks for verification, but I wouldn't be surprised.
As for cost, I was charged the same as if I were doing it myself. That alone is one of the reasons I've volunteered to help out in other IBA rides in the future. If folks are willing to wait for me at 0-dark-30 in some podunk gas station, then the least I can do is offer to return the favor.
Goodl luck. The more I read about the IBA and participate in their events the more impressed I am with the organization and its members.

The more I hear about these events the better they sound. The IBA Cert. is something I’ve wanted to get for awhile so I’m OK with the $42 fee (same as if submitted on your own).
Doug- Good luck on your ride.
Landon- Maybe I’ll see ya at Indiana Tech at Eric’s and we can talk.
Thanks,
Mike

I am going to do the one out of Crossville, TN on 16 June, Good Lord willing.
Anyone know of a link to the schedule of SS1000 events? Are they listed on the IBA website?

So, I have a question for you experienced IBA guys. I am planning on riding the Crossville, TN SS1000, which starts and ends in Crossville. Thing is, this route would run back to within 10 miles of my house at about the 12hr mark. Would it be illegal or even looked down upon if at that point I ran to the house to get a couple hours nap in and not have to pay for a hotel room or take a chance at napping at a rest area and getting robbed or over-sleeping and not making the 24hr window?
Also, Crossville, TN is right at 250 miles from home. I plan to ride down Friday and get a hotel room for Fri & Sat and a good solid nights sleep and be fresh for the 6am clutch-out on Saturday. By all accounts, with a 4hr break window alotted (worst case) I should be back at Crossville, TN for the finish around 3:30AM on Sunday. I planned to get some more sleep if needed in the hotel room and then ride back home on Sunday. Now.....if I gotta ride 250 miles back home anyway......may as well tack on another 250 and pickup a BB1500 on the way home, right :D
My question IS.....the SS1000 is MTF ride with their Start and End witness and the whole ride is a package deal. If I decide to try for the BB1500 back home, I'd just need to get an End witness for the remaining 500 miles, but would I need to have copies of my fuel/stop receipts from the SS1000 to submit for the BB1500?
