If you haven't seen the article about Ardys Kellerman I recommend reading it. Ardys is having another record setting year at the young age of 74. For any of you that think you can't do an SS1K read Ardys' article and then think again.
I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with Ardys a couple of time at events. Voni Glaves wrote the article who is also a very accomplised LD rider and just about the biggest sweetie you'll ever meet.

Ardys is trying to get the funding to finish a 100K year. She was working to be the first but looks like Sheila beat her to it. Voni is trying to raise the money for Ardys. If you would like to contribute you can do so through Voni's Paypal.
Here's the email I received:
FYI- Ardys Kellerman amassed more than 80,000 miles between April
> and October in the BMWMOA's mileage contest. Most of you know her (74
> year old great-grandmother who rides more miles than most men or women.
>
> In a conversation with Ardys, it became apparent that the only obstacle
> between her and the Iron Butt Association 100K Club is money. She has all
> of the documentation in place, and a deadline of April 5th to complete the
> ride.
>
> With all of her friends and admirers in the MOA and IBA, small
> contributions would make raising the $4-5000 necessary to complete the
> ride feasible. Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly
> appreciated by Ardys, as well as many of the people in the long distance
> and BMW riding community who would like to see this happen.

> public announcements.
>
> Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yes, they are. Trying to get my wife more into it...I think she would have fun. She is licensed but we can't afford a second bike right now. For now, she loves riding pillion. :D

That is one of the best write up's I've read in a long time.
AMAZING!
A couple of years ago, I stopped for lunch at a tiny restuarant. The seats were full, so I sat with this little old lady... She was riding.... a Honda... 250 rebel..... COAST TO COAST! She was in her 70's and said she was having a BALL! She was going to her family reunion. She left before I did and I caught up to her. She had that little rebel rung out! SHE WAS ON THE INTERSTATE!!!!!! She should have qualified for something...

Voni is a close friend of Ardys and I'm really glad she took the time to write the article because Ardys is not a very vocal person but is one of the nicest people you'll meet on a bike.

Great write up by Voni !
I love the picture of Ardys sitting in that big huge rocking chair, in Ron Ayers book, Going The Extra Mile. Ron also gave Ardys some props.

Wow, everyone should have a granny like her.
I notice one of her "secrets" is a sheepskin. Even at 10K a year, I'm with her on that.

Just got an email yesterday from Voni and Paul on LDRiders.
Ardys was able to get 100,000 miles in a year thanks to all the people that donated!!!!!!!
She got her mileage verified yesterday. :)
Another milestone for the 75 years young grandmother.
