I'm riding my buddy's '07 GL1800 for week while he rides my ST1300. It's got all kinds of "stuff" on it including navigation. All I want to do is ride and it seems all the gadgets look confusing...for now. I'm 5'6" with a 30" inseam and both feet can touch the ground! woohoo!
Anyway, I've noticed more wind noise/buffeting than on the ST1300. Is this normal or are there adjustments to be made due to my height?

You can adjust the windshield. There are two levers at the base of either side of the shield. I think you lift them and you can snick the shield up in steps. Go all the way to the top and you can then lower it to the bottom and start snicking up again. Try some different settings. Some of the Wingers will chime in, too, I'm sure.

My windshield is at the bottom almost all the time. If the SO is with me and it rains real hard, I'll lift it up to close to the full range. I can still see over it and it helps keep the rain off her. What Bones said is true it is adjustable,a nd when Mother Honda is going to make it electrically adjustable is only a matter of time. The K1200LT has had electric since its inception.
When you said you were 5'6", I couldn't imagine how you were getting any buffeting at all even at the lowest setting.

Yeah.. seems strange.. did you not wear ear plugs but you usually do on the ST? I'm 5'8" and yes there's wind and buffeting but just by design the ST has more at least that was my experience.
It could be there was a strong cross-wind.

We found three clicks up to be the ideal position on our 'wing. In this position I get no buffeting at all and Farkle doesn't get too much. We were both surprised at the difference it made. Interestingly, higher and we found the buffeting returned a little.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Yes, I was very surprised at the wind noise also. I started wearing ear plugs while on the ST, but even without earplugs it seems the GW was noisier. What's REALLY strange was that I was barely looking over the shield.
I just lowered it to its lowest setting for tomorrow's ride to see how that works. I really love the comfyness (SP?) of the GW. The SO loves it too - she feels it's DEFINITELY more quiet than the ST. All the gadgets are still a little too much for me, but I'll probably get used to it when it comes time to returning it to my buddy. OH yeah, before I forget - No heat.
My buddy is considering selling it and he'll be going back to his connie (unknown why????!! he claims that he really misses it.) In some way I can see his point...it's only been a day & a half, and I miss my ST.
