I saw on Channel 4 this afternoon that a Richardson Motor Officer was hit today on HWY 75. They said the driver changed lanes and hit the bike in the rear. They said the officer would be ok and the bike did not look that bad overall. Well atleast on TV.
I know we have or had a Richardson Officer as a member so I am wondering if it was that person. I hope he or she is really OK.
Motorjock721, hope you are ok out there.

Finally caught a blurb on the news.. I'm sure the officer was okay as they would have spent more time on the story if not. Definitely one of their STs.
Hopefully, any injuries are very minor.

+1. I also have a lot of respect for the guys who ride in enforcement squads. They probably end up putting themselves in harms' way several times a shift.

Hey everyone,
It has been a long time since I have visited the board. I am no longer riding the bike now. I am working in one of our Jr High schools now as a School Resource Officer.
My previous partner was involved in the accident on Thursday. He was travelling N/B on Central Expressway ( US 75 ) when a vehicle made a unsafe lane change and side swiped him. The impact caused him to get re-directed into the outside concrete barrier. The outcome was a broken clavical, concussion, facial lacerations, road rash, and a bruised chest. He is currently at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. his injuries are not considered life threatening and is expected to be moved out out ICU this evening.
The Arai 3/4 helmets that we wear took a good lick but saved his life.

Allan, very sorry to hear about this but glad that he will recover.
The job you and your fellow officers do is tough enough without having to deal with this stuff.
Please tell him our prayers are with him and we are glad he is doing better.
We had three bike deaths in our county between Friday and Monday. I always read them in detail to try and learn what mistakes were made, but it is certain that at least two were due to excessive speed. One of the riders had a rap sheet with 22 infractions (speeding, drug possession, etc) since 2004, so I figure he was on borrowed time anyways.

My prayers also to a quick recovery.
My dad was a motorcop in the '50s, and told me from the start, assume you're invisible because he would even make eye contact and they would pull out in front of him.

It is a shame that stuff like this happens. The training these guys get is much more intense than any courses available to the general public. I'm sure he was taken completely unawares, but glad he will recover.

Tough to look at any bike over on its side...especially an ST
Officer Burns, please relay my regards to the injured officer for a speedy recovery.

Wow. From the looks of things, his Angel was looking out for him. It looks like a long way down on the other side of that barrier.
Tell him Godspeed on the recovery.
Thanks for filling us in.

Allan, please convey my wishes to your friend for a quick recovery. M/C officers and other policeman do an awesome job, thank you.

By the scrapes along the top of the shield, the bike was out of shape big time along that barrier, which looks to be no more than 3' high; indeed lucky not going over and down. God Speed in recovery.
:04biker: :(
P.S. Bryan. Shield via USPS on the way.

STinner, the cop bikes come with a Honda design riser and steering nut cover. It is 1' up and no pull back, and is used so the right hand cop switch assy will clear the tank.
There are only a few minor changes from the civilian version, most notably, an accurate speedo with increments of 2mph, instead of the usual 5.
