For those who have the NAV package.

Does the GW GPS show you the actual speed the bike is travelling? There was a screen on my Tom Tom, which I had mounted on the ST which would show you actual speed, but I have not found this option on the GW.

So far the NAV system has me intimidated enough not to mess with it too much.

I guess I just need to spend some quality time with my GW and play with the system until I get used to it.

Anyway, if there is a current speed option, can some one let me know how to access it?

I didn't get the NAV package, but I understand the tech manual for the NAV system is bigger than the owners manual.

There isn't an official screen where it will display the speed on top of the map as with a standalone Garmin or other system. You could however put it into diagnostics mode and then monitor all the serial bus data, including speed, as you're travelling. Not sure that would have any real use and you'd have to stop the bike and turn off the ignition to get out of diagnostics mode. There is the possibility, as I don't remember without looking, that the speed displayed in diagnostics mode is from the bikes speed sense wire and not the GPS. I seem to recall though that there is a GPS serial data screen as well.

If you want to get into diagnostics mode... again from memory... hm... switch the bike on, ok the nav screen, press the menu button (or it might be before you press the menu button, sorry) press either up, down, down, up or down, up, up, down on the panel zoom toggle. An extra menu or two (depending on which was right) will appear. Sorry, again without looking I can't remember which is which.

However, let me assure you of one thing... you can't hurt a thing by looking and browsing all over the screens that appear. Believe me, I've tried to change some settings and it just isn't possible. So, although the screens might look scary you can't damage anything. You can return to the map from diag mode, but you'll have some strange characters at the bottom of the screen. To completely reset it, you need to switch the ignition off.

Have fun.

I should add that because of the lack of ability to plan routes etc. I have also incorporated my Garmin Quest onto my 'wing.

Should also add that one of the menus you can make appear enables you to put the nav into 'indoor mode' so that it's not looking for satelites. Setting this is only remembered until you switch the ignition off.

Must not have read the manual as thorough as I thought...

The size of the manual is the reason I decided to post this question. Oh well, I didnt think Honda would have ths feature. I figured I would ask anyway just to have another excuse to avoid reading the book. :(

All I can say is :bow1:

You guys who are so savvy in this, are way beyond my computer knowledge. To be honest, I doubt I will ever try your method. Heck I got dizzy just reading it. :)
