I was looking at the Pakit Rak system but thought $399+ was a bit much.

So, I got an Add On trailer hitch (http://www.cyclemaxohio.com/inc/sdetail/703) - $140

Nelson Rigg Gold Wing Rear Tail Pack #GWR1000 (http://www.amazon.com/Nelson-GWR1000-Riggs-Frame-86842/dp/B000GRRWQC/ref=pd_ys_iyr_img/103-1937089-9995035) - About $100 w/shipping

Then, a friend of mine said he's weld up a rack with some spare metal he had
sitting around. He did a great job, once he ships it to me I'll add some
side/rear lights and then shoot some pics w/bike.

Should be just the ticket for packing more lightweight bulky items on trips
without having to deal with a trailer - not that there's anything wrong with
that.

When is this thing gonna make its debut???? CampSToc???? That rack looks to be well thought out with all the possiblities for bungies or straps.

Mac, at the moment the entire month of April is blacked out for me due to work... that means no moonshine or CampSTOC for me - at the moment.

I'm doing as much as I can to move the project ahead and free up that time but if I can make either of those it will be a last minute decision...

Rick did a good job of thinking ahead for tie-down options. The Nelson Riggs bag has 4 straps built into it on each bottom corner - for use on a Wing's trunk rack.

Looks good, Joe. Oughta work just fine.

If you'd run a piece up from the outside center just to the height of the top of your trunk, you could make a clothes rack from a compact car fit. Then you could hang your clothes and eliminate the wrinkled look:) It'd work, I'm telling you!
