If BMW were to build an inline or opposed six, they may have a Wing killer. However, Honda has to be working on the next generation Wing already. When the Wings first came out, Honda was changing it every 2-4 years. The 1500 lasted from 88 to 01, mainly because there was no serious competion for it until the LT came out. The 1800 is in its 6th year and if this information about the Beemer is available to us now, it has been available to Honda much longer. The biggest complaint I hear from LT owners is the top heaviness at slow speeds. BMW has to address that problem to overtake the Gold Wing. And like Rob said above $30K MSRP. Lets face it, the more technology the bigger the cost. You get what you want, you have to pay for it.

In my opinion there's something else BMW has to address with the LT... the look! I've ridden with a few and it doesn't matter how you look at it, to my eyes it's a much smaller bike with bits added on to make it look good... again to my eyes, they've failed miserably. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but I really don't like them.
